Odd Website Pop-Ups...Please Help

I thought I've tried everything but now I'll see what you guys can think of. Probably alot more than what I can figure out. I seriously need some major help I guess and know nothing about HJT...lol...didn't even know what that stood for for about 10 minutes. Was wondering what people were talking about...ok to the problem:

I've ran Spybot: Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Nortons Interenet Security. When I run Spybot it fixes some stuff but there are always 2 things that it doesn't fix...Don't know if they are the problem or not.

Here is what HJT came up with and I have NO idea what any of it means...Please help, I can't do anything without these pop-ups coming up and annoying me.

    Hi,

    Run HiJackThis then:

    1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
    2. Click "Open Process manager"

    -

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

    D:\WINDOWS\system32\svhost.exe
    C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Check the following in HJT and click 'Fix Checked'

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Login] svhost.exe

    Find and Delete:

    C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate << this folder

Please visit at least two of the following sites for an online virus scan:

    BitDefender Free Online Virus Scan
    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
Make sure you tick AutoClean under Scan Options.

    Panda ActiveScan
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
Make sure you tick Disinfect automatically under Scan Options.

    Housecall at TrendMicro
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
Make sure you tick Auto Clean.
When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

Thanks for the help so far but still getting the pop-ups.

Trend Micro didn't find anything but eTrust found this file: pacninsh.dll with Win32.Prop infection in the path of D:\Windows\system32\

It found another one but deleted it but couldn't delete that one. Here is my second HJT Log after doing all that and rebooting:

Is it getting better or no?

Nothing has changed in your log. Did you do the steps I provided in my first post?

If you did and nothing has changed that is probably because of SpyBots TeaTimer.

Do this to disable SpyBots TeaTimer

We'll need to unload Spybot's Teatimer before we begin. To do this can you start Spybot and go to Tools > Resident and uncheck the box next to Tea-Timer. Make sure that the icon in the system tray is no longer there. If it is, just right click on it and select "Exit". Do not forget to re-enable it when we are done :).

I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, I can't find the folder C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate...its like it doesn't exist. I have all the hidden files showing and all that, already looked into it. I scanned with eTrust again and it found this: File pacninst.dll with the infection of Win32.Propo in the directory of D:\Windows\system32.

Also I randomly have this error bother me at least once and I have no idea what it means:

    PSNNPUT8error.jpg

Also when I scan with Spybot it found this stuff and did this:

    SpybotScan.jpg

And here is my new HJT Log. Looks like I'm not getting anywhere:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

I couldn't tell if I got an error or not. After the scan was done all the text disappeared before I could read it. Here is what I came up with though.

Close any browsers and programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter. It will process then start. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.

    MORE INFO: READ THIS

Follow this guide by Crunchie to stay more secure

Now that your PC is clean you need to follow these easy steps to keeping it this way:

Secure your Internet Explorer by going here and following the instructions there.

Better yet, use an alternative browser! Download FireFox and give it a run. It is far more secure than Internet Explorer. Or, you can get Opera which in my opinion, is better still.

Use a firewall to help prevent your PC's control being usurped by undesireables.

Install and keep updated, Ad-Aware SE, and Spybot S&D.
Run them both on a regular basis, following the manufacturer's recommendations.

Install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster 3.4

Install an anti-virus. There are some good, free AV's available today. Make sure that it is updated regularly and have it scan your system often.

Check for Windows Updates. Microsoft regularly post updates for your systems safe running. Make sure to take advantage of this. Reboot when installed and return to make sure there are no others.

    Clear your Temp folders.
Clear out your Temporary internet files and other temp files.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel >Internet Options.

Under the General tab click the Delete temporary internet files,
delete all Offline content as well. Clear out Cookies.

Also, go to Start > Find/search > Files or folders > in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit > select all -> File > delete.

Empty/delete the entire contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. (Contents but not the folder itself.)

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    For XP users.
After something like this it is a good idea to Flush the Restore Points and start fresh.
To flush the XP system Restore Points.

Go to Start>Run and type msconfig. Press enter.

When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
On the next page, click the System Restore Settings link on the left.

Check the box labelled 'Turn off System restore'.

Reboot. Go back in and Turn System Restore Back on. A new Restore Point will be created.

Note that all previous restore points will be lost.

    ===============

If you have any more problems, post back.
