virus, worm

Has anyone ever seen an icon in the system tray that almost looks like a notepad icon but with a vertical yellow double arrow inside of it? When I see this icon in the system tray of a computer (its happening to random ones inside 2 or 3 student labs, I work at a university) the computer doesn't respond to anything, no keys, no ctrl+alt+delete, nothing but the mouse which i am only able to move around on the screen, its not responsive to clicks. I am able to hover over the icon though and when I do it says

FS: Enabled, Active
RG: Enabled, Active

I'd be happy to give more information if I knew how but when I restart everything seems to be fine and working again, which is why I suspect some kind of a virus.

Does anyone have any advice on what this may be?
any help is greatly appreciated.

I have heard of this before. I think, but I may be wrong, that it is related to Clean Slate software. Try reading this:

I hope it helps and perhaps you could get some more information by searching. I'm sorry I can't help much more than that.

Ahhhh! Very helpful indeed friend you don't know how much this truly helps me. My boss does use clean slate to keep students from saving all sorts of garbage on the lab machines so this at least isolates the problem. I can't thank you enough I was beginning to think that I was the first person to ever experience this problem, thanks again

You're very welcome. I hope you're able to fix the problem, that is, if it really is broken.
    :)

I'll close this thread now. If you need more information post to the software discussion forum.
