Just wondering if anyone is interested in some old-fashoned Descent 2 action. I haven't played this game in multiplayer since the Kali days and I'd really like to give it a spin again.

Since the Descent trademark was offically canned by Interplay in 2002, and Parallax software hasn't existed since 1998, I can make a copy of the disk for anyone who is interested. There's also been a few fan made patches which enable TCP/IP play (rather than IPX) and 3D acceleration in OpenGL.

If anyone is interested let me know and I'll make it available on my server for download.

Got any screenshots of openGL descent 2? I can't seem to find any on the interweb.

I'm interested in giving it a go. I think I have a Descent 2 disc sitting around my house somewhere... I'd be interested in checking out the fanmade features you mentioned.

I'd be interested in checking it out as well... IP beats IPX any day... I always wanted to do PodRacer in a LAN but IPX always seemed to cause a problem.

There are a lot of similar mods out there, but as of late I've been messing with http://www.dxx-rebirth.de/ the most.

Here's the complete program, high res movies and all. Just unrar it where ever you want and run the exe. You'll need to use the command line -gl_trilinear to get it to run with 3D acceleration.

There are a bunch more command tweaks too. Check the readme file.
