Pop Up Problem [resolved]

Would someone please look at my Hijack This Log, I have many popups that just started showing up a couple days ago. My default browser is Mozilla Firefox but I also get pop ups from Internet Explorer (both). I noticed another person with a problem that looks close to mine, do I just follow the steps there or do I i do something else? http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40992

Anyways heres my Hijack This Log:

hi shadow, yes there problem maybe similar but EACH machine is different so always start your own topic which you did :) lets move on to the fix..you have the l2m infection it appears please follow these directions-->Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

*Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
*Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
*Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

If you receive, while running option #1, an error similar to ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application..", then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

*From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter.
*The fix will start. Please don't use your keyboard while the fix is running! Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal).
*L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. When asked, Press any key to reboot.
*After the reboot Notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.

Oh yeah, by the way, I'm not sure the desktop icons disapeared, they might have because I wasn't paying much attention. If you see anything wrong please tell me so I could re-scan it (in the middle of the scan I closed down my internet connection because so many pop ups kept coming up, I didn't use the keyboard while it scanned though)

yes please re follow my instructions (the log didn't come out right) especially make sure NO windows/programs etc are running before you press #2 option so in other words be sure to close out any running programs/windows etc BEFORE running option 2 from the l2mfix folder then repost the new log from l2m
EDIT:also like the instructions state please DO NOT use your keyboard/click on anything during the fix as it can interrupt it

that didn't seem to come out right either please try this instead-->
Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.
    • Close all windows before continuing.
    • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
    • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
    • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
    • When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
    • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
    • When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
    • Your computer will then shutdown.
    • Turn your computer back on.
    • Please post the contents of C:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.

Wow....I'm soo sorry but I think I might have messed this one up too...I scanned it with the Look2Me Destroyer and did everything as you said but once i relogged on to my account, all the icons, desktop, and toolsbar didn't show up. So i reloged onto it and I coudn't find the file of the Look2Me Destroyer. So i re-scanned the program again, but the scan turned out different from the first one because it deleted the L2ms already...

Heres the log of the second Look2Me Destroyer scan:

    Look2Me-Destroyer V1.0.12

    Scanning for infected files.....
Scan started at 9/1/2006 7:11:11 PM

    Attempting to delete infected files...

    Making registry repairs.

    Restoring Windows certificates.

Replaced hosts file with default windows hosts file

Restoring SeDebugPrivilege for Administrators - Succeeded

    And the new HijackThis Log:

no problem, good job the log, l2m destroyer seemed to do the job better this time then l2m fix i had you use 1st time around, l2m is a very annoyin pesky malware but glad l2m destroyer got it (destroyed it) now please do this-->Please perform an online virus scan with F-Secure Online Scanner.

Please navigate (using Internet Explorer, other browsers won't work) to the following site: http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols3.shtml
    • Click the F-Secure Online Scanner Next Generation Beta link.
    • When prompted, choose to install the software.
    • After the software has installed, click Accept.
    • Click Custom Scan and check the option for Scan inside archives, then click Start.
    • The necessary databases will then be downloaded, and the scan will then start automatically. Please be patient as this scan will take a while to complete.
    • If any infections are found then once the scan has finished the "cleaning" screen will be displayed. Choose Automatic cleaning (recommended).
    • After cleaning has finished, then the Finish screen will be displayed. Choose Show Report.
    • In order to post the report, press CTRL+A on your keyboard to highlight all the text. Then copy and paste that information into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

Im not sure whats happening but once Im done downloading the required components (after installing the program) it moves on to 4. Scanning then it says preparing to scann on the window, I wait for 30 secs. or so then another window pops up saying An error has occured! Please close your scanner and your browser, then try again (Id: 24). I don't even have a broswer windows open... I retried it over 4 times, no change...Is there a way to avoid this? Or a different program? Please Help....

no problem, i havnt heard of that happening but its in beta (testing)still so it obviously may incur some problems like that until its fully released with all patches *it does work good when it does work* but lets try this one-->Please run the BitDefender online scan from here; http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
You will need to allow an active x install for the scan to run.
Leave the scanning options at default and press "click here to scan"
When finished scanning, click on "click here to export the scan report"
Save it to your desktop, at "file name" type in "bdscan" then click save.
Please attach the bdscan.html file to your next post along with a new hijackthis log.

WOW It took 6 hours to do that scan, and guess what...the window closes for no reason with only like 15mins of scanning left. Ugh im soo pissed right now...the whole 6 hours i sat here closing down the millions of pop-ups...wow...I don't know what to do now...the program self deletes the infected files that were scanned...now my computer seems to get even more pop ups more frequently all of a suddden...like 4 pop ups comes every 1.5mins... please help...with another program or something..the one you sent me has deleted the infected things with no log...and takes forever...
