Post Dell Launched AMD Systems

Dell's new E521 & C512, can both be configured with a variety of AMD CPUs ranging from the AMD Athon 3800+ X2 all the way to the new 5000+ X2. What is unconfirmed is if Dell is offering only AM2 platform systems or if they have a few of the old 939 setups for the lower end. I was able to configure a E521 fully loaded with a price tag of $2,400+ - not what I would call a budget system.

It will be interesting to see how Dell's customers will take to these new offerings just before the holiday season.

I went to Dell's website yesterday evening and you can now build your AMD system from links on the site. I was able to play around with the configurator and build an X2-3800 system that had a gig of ram, a 160 gig hard drive, a discrete video card (not integrated video) and a 1 year warrantee (no monitor or speakers though) for $559. That sounds like a hell of a deal for the hardware, IMO. This price also included a reinstallation CD for XP MCE too.
