Highest 8rda+ fsb's.

why the hell not, seems as if everyone who got pissed with epox migrated to abit. But for those folks who stuck to it and through it (the bullsh*t), what's the highest fsb you guys have gotten the baord up to? Modded or Not.

Im currently running at 220*11. Im still tinkering with slighty higher fsb's, but my proc keeps acting up when over 2.4.

Surprised this knigston pc3200 hyperx is running way over spec.

but my thing though, is that before i flashed the bios, from 3/5/03 to the newest one, i believe its the 6/19/03 i couldnt get passed 185 fsb i swear.

then i flash the fsb, and bam 30 fsb increase? wtf? can a bios change really do that. and no, it wasnt a screw up on my part, did the same thing i did back then, freaked me out. has anyone with an 8rda+ gotten the same results?

Well, yes a bios update that solved any addressing issues the board might have had would certainly be a source for higher fsb speeds.

I've not used your board personally (still stuck on the KT333 8k5a2+ myself), but know that others can get 200+ easily with it without volt modding. I know there were a ton of issues at release, but I don't know what the bios updates since have specifically fixed... have you checked epox's site to see what they listed as improvments for that bios release?

according to 8rdafaq.com:

1) Update BPL to V3.02 R1.
2) Support auto detect Thorton CPU.
3) For fix MCP2/A04 USB signal clock jitter

theres even a newer one, that says :
7/18/03 (8RDA3716)
1) Update BPL version to 3.09 for increasing memory stability.

imma test this one out now, and now im "stable" at 230. so we'll see, keep ya posted. Epox all teh way.

great, just f***ing great...

rolling hard at 231 fsb, i swear it was stable (memtest86 for 8 hours prior to 12 hours of sandra) then one restart BAM! FF post code....

for those of you who dont know what it means, it means a good deam board, basically. im trying some stuff to "revive" it, but i already have another being RMA'd at the moment.

talk about speaking to soon.... dammit......

FF means f***ing fine I thought

It's a good code, and the one you should see during startup... now, the fact you're not getting it to post and you're getting FF could mean several things... memory died, CPU died, video card's loose (wiggle it to see)... etc.

Oh oh Same thing happend to me with 2 8RGA+s'. Unplug the power cord to the psu and take the cmos battery out for a while, maybe for about 20 minutes or longer.

Hook it back and try the firing up. If it just jumps to the FF code without it going thru the cycle of codes, there's 2 things that happend:

1) Cpu is dead
2) The bios is dead.

Try swapping cpu's at this point.

That's pretty much it. Depriving the board of power usually has a lucky effect and reverses the problem.

im quite familiar with the FF code, and all the procedures to "revive" it. i have an extra AXP1700+ that imma try, but ima rma another 8rda+ that i have in hopes of getting the new 2.0's that have been floating around.

when i get that up though, its back to die hard OC'ing for me. 231 was a good number though, complete stock too (with the exception of a n-bridge fan).
