internet connection problem

I use walmart connect and recently I am experiencing a problem. I will be surfing and all of the sudden my internet is just gone and I am back to my desktop. It is like turning off a light switch. It does not say thankyou like it normally does when you disconnect intentionally it is just gone. I have tried reseting my modem port speed to 9600 to see if this helps. Any other thoughts on things I might try would be appreciated.
