NORTON AV 2006, what the........

Just installed Norton Anti Virous 2006 on this pc. Where with ver 2005 I only had the one icon by the clock (lower right corner). Now with version 2006 I have that same icon which is OK, but now have an addtional icon labled NORTON PROTECTION CENTER. Just what I need, another darn icon sucking up resources! Wonderful sic. It tells me Nortons Status is GOOD, woppie. I really dont think I need this unless someone can tell me I do and why. Kinda reminding me now of AOL and what I call all the usless icing

What can I say the only Norton product I use is at work and it's norton corporate 2005. I find more and more their software is becoming all intrusive and bloated. For most cases I recomend AVG. It works, it's not bloated and it's free. I think I may even drop corporate at work and use AVG's corporate version there when my norton subscription runs out.
