AMD Sempron 3100+ Overclocking

Xbitlabs takes the Sempron 3100 (S754), Overclocks it and compares it to the Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2ghz 1MB), Athlon 64 2800+ (1.8ghz 512K), P4 3.4E and P4 3.4C.

    This Vcore value (v1.65) let us conquer the next frequency peak – 280MHz of the clock generator. The system was actually stable at 281MHz, too, and hang-ups and instability only occurred at 282MHz, but we rolled back to 280MHz for more stability; the effective CPU clock rate was very impressive anyway – [b]2.52GHz[/b]![/quote]

    We should note that the Sempron 3100+ processor delivers good performance even without overclocking. Having only 256 kilobytes of L2 cache memory, it is just 1-2% slower than the full-featured Athlon 64 2800+.

    As for the gain you receive by overclocking the Sempron 3100+, we enjoyed a performance growth of about 25% by clocking our sample at 2.52GHz (40% frequency boost). Thanks to that, the overclocked Sempron 3100+ could outperform the Pentium 4 3.4GHz as well as the Athlon 64 3400+ by about 5% in average.

      AMD has clearly blown Intel out of the water as of late.
      The Sempron 3100+ is clearly a kick ass piece of equipment for the $$$$$.Until 64 bit comuting really gets going,,i see it as the only realistic option at the moment,,especially with its potential to overclock and outperform the top rating CPU's,,,dont belive me??? then type "overclocking sempron 3100+" into a browser search engine and read it for yourself hey,its all there.
      Besides the obvious,,AMD can produce results on the same socket for a much longer sustained period of time,,,,what does that say to me?? They are smarter manufacturers is what that tells me.I used to be an Intel man myself,,but got sick of changing sockets every 3-4 weeks,,lol. Screw that.And AMD does it for less $$$, not that much cheaper,,but enough to spend the $$$$$ i save on other goodies which help along the way,,like Nforce M/B and decent RAM etc....wont know until you try for yourself though hey,,Im convinced totally.
