Corsair Launches DDR2 800 CL3

Corsair is regaining its memory presence with a few interesting products that no-one at press time can match.

They have just launched a two-gigabyte arrangement of Twin 2X2048-8500C5 memory that works at 1066MHz, at 5-5-5-15 timings and a TWIN2X2048-6400C4 that supports 4-4-4-12 timings, both supporting Enhanced Performance profile. This memory is optimised for the just-announced Nforce 590 chipset and AMD AM2 CPUs and is available immediately.

But there’s more, as the company just announced a new TWIN2X2048-6400C3 2GB kit and this is the first DDR 2 800 memory that can work at amazing 3-4-3-9 timings. It is the world’s first CL 3 DDR 2 memory shipping in volumes. This memory also supports EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) and can be called SLI-ready.

Sounds very similar to the Corsair memory I tested in the AM2 review.. It was PC8500 @ 5-5-5-15 as well, but 2x512MB.

    That CL3 stuff sounds neato.

For sure.. This is the kind of ram that AM2 will really benefit from. Low timing DDR2 really lets the IMC operate at it's fullest potential.

Don't suppose you could get some to review?
It'd be interesting to see how much that one change could do to seperate the 939/AM2 platforms in performance.

I agree, I'd love to make that comparison! There is some nice CAS 3 stuff from OCZ out now too. Unfortunatly, I won't have the AM2 kit for very much longer, so I won't have that opportunity.

I wonder if they'll ever come out with CL2 DDR2 memory, timings equal to DDRI and then I would probably pay a tad to see a review on that... see just how much faster DDR II actually is.

Like if you put DDRI up against DDRII at the same frequency and speed timings, how would one compair to the other?

Hey, be nice. Icrontic is full of good people, we promise.
