Famous Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 kit goes wireless

promedia_21_wirelessThe Klipsch ProMedia speaker sets have been a respected cornerstone in enthusiast audio for nearly a decade. In honor of the lineup’s impending 10-year anniversary, Klipsch has announced a new version which cuts the cords.

The original THX®-certified ProMedia 2.1 was introduced in 2000, and over the years it has become one of the highest praised, best-selling products Klipsch has ever produced. Therefore, Klipsch designed the ProMedia 2.1 Wireless to sound just like it.

With or without wires, the ProMedia remains the defacto 2.1 standard for computer speakers—it’s even been known to put some home theaters to shame.

So get ready to kiss lackluster performance goodbye because with the ProMedia 2.1 Wireless, you’ll be swept away by the sheer power, detail and emotion of your favorite music, movies and games. In fact, you won’t believe the performance of these wireless computer speakers until you experience them for yourself.

Not a big fan of horn loaded tweeters. Efficient and loud they may be, they just sound shrill and unnatural most of the time. Still, I admit its a bit an engineering marvel, getting so much sound from that small package, I don't knock it, I'm just not that into horns.

Ribbon tweeters are hands down the best sounding, but also only found in the most expensive loudspeakers. I think klipsch speakers are excellent. They do an amazing job with their horn tweeters.

Ribbons and ring radiators are both top notch. I will even take a well designed soft silk dome over a compression horn. Once again, not knocking the design, the sound is room filling, its punchy, its loud, I just find it to be a little too aggressive for my tastes.

It'd be nice if it was a 4.1 system with wired fronts and wireless surround speakers. I have a set of the promedia 4.1s that I would like to use but don't want to run wires.

With my last 2.1 speaker setup, I went with logitech speakers. They sound good and crisp but I regret not buying the Klipsch 2.1. They sound awesome.

I dislike wireless sound on principle: it's either going to be transmitted analog where it picks up EMI noise or transmitted digitally where sound quality is trashed by the high-speed, low-bandwidth codecs built into the speaker hardware.

I have the promedias and a traditional receiver/speaker system. And they are polar opposites when it comes to a warm / bright sound.

The klipsch are very bright as a result of the horn loaded tweeter. Which I grew to love. Then I got my actual stereo with energy speakers and they have a very natural and sometimes warm sound as compared to the klipsch.

Took some time to get used to and I have to say. It is pretty neat to go back and forth listening to music on them both and noting how different the music sounds and the vibe you get.

For computer speakers the promedias amaze me at how much quality and volume is packed into that little package.

I have the Klipsch 5.1 set and I have to say I love this product. If I were to recommend a system for a friend I could see this wireless system being up near the top of my list.
