FCC to vote on white space
The US national election isn’t the only important voting going on today. The FCC will be deciding whether or not the “white space” frequencies between those licensed to the operators of television networks should be freed up for unlicensed use.
The plan is expected to pass and would take effect next year when broadcasters are required to move entirely to digital. Why do we care? White space networks could see speeds greater than 10MB/s or even up to 100MB/s over short ranges (think home networking), in a relatively short timespan.
Yes, please.
