Intel sues NVIDIA

Intel is suing NVIDIA according to Tim at bit-tech. Big Blue says the Jolly Green Giant doesn’t have a license to make chipsets for Intel processors with integrated memory controllers and is looking for a summary judgment to back up the claim.

If the court goes Intel’s way, it could throw a wrench in NVIDIA’s play to release a competitor to the Intel X58 chipset for Core i7 processors. According to statements, the two companies have been trying to work through this matter for a year to no avail.

We don’t know about you, but we’re fans of competition on the marketplace. An nForce Core i7 board sounds pretty sweet.

//EDIT//
The folks over at The Inquirer are reporting that NVIDIA’s ballsy leader, Jen-Hsun Huang, is telling everyone that this is a desperate move to try and protect Intel’s marketplace dominance.

We’ll watch this schoolyard fight until either the judge rules or the principal breaks it up.

    Why do I feel like Intel is desperately afraid of its competitors lately?

    Or are they just trying to be bullies while they can?

    Must be the second. Intel has no reason to be afraid of a little competition when then they are doing so well in their markets.
