Nintendo DS redux… again

Engadget reports that Nintendo has announced a new model of their incredibly popular Nintendo DS, called the DSi. The DSi Looks much like the Lite, but has received many new features (while losing one). The biggest improvement over the Lite is a 3 megapixel camera on the front, and a 0.3 megapixel camera on the hinge inside. It also has a bigger screen, moved power button and speakers, and a slot for an SD card. The biggest disappointment regarding the DSi is the loss of the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, although the loss of the GBA cartridge slot makes the system 12 percent thinner, another drawback is the price at ¥18,900, which tranlates to about 180 USD.

More about the DSi, how the system works with both McDonalds and your Wii, and more official information can be found at http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/02/nintendo-announces-the-dsi/

Seems like a pretty cool revamping of the unit. I don't know if I'll bother upgrading my current one. But it'll certainly sell well.

The loss in battery life is somewhat disappointing.

Yeah, not enough to make me consider upgrading, but it's definitely a nice little redesign.

Loss in battery + no GBA slot + what appears to be crappier speakers = no go.

The loss of the GBA slot is a deal breaker by itself for me.

But Nintendo doesn't have to worry about it. I hate Ctrl+Alt+del, but this comic is the PERFECT example of what Nintendo has:

Nevermind the Wii doesn't have anything going for it with the exception of Punch Out... We need another DS revision!
