The iFrogz EarPollution Plugz

Dear Apple,

The earphones that come with the iPhone and iPod are very uncomfortable, too big, and don’t like to stay in my ears.  Please fix it.

RIM announces BlackBerry “Tour”

RIM has announced the BlackBerry Tour which offers EV-DO 3G in the new Curve form factor, but as it has no WiFi, nobody actually cares.

BlackBerry App World launches

It’s a specious date, but the news is legit: Research In Motion launched the BlackBerry App World at 12:37 AM EST. I’ve already downloaded and installed it on my AT&T BlackBerry Bold, and I’m pleased to say that the experience has been quite nice. The application looks very polished, arriving complete with slickly-animated loading screens and a cushioned pan when navigating menus and icons

Applications have thus far averaged $3-$12 in price, while scads of apps are also free. If you’re running a BlackBerry with RIMOS 4.2 or higher, you’re in luck.

Better late than never, we guess, and you’ll be happy to know that BlackBerries everywhere now have access to flatulence with the $2.99 PhoneyFart from VirtualVies. Frp.

Thar be apps here!

Obama administration faces IT roadblocks

Incoming senior White House officials are reportedly dismayed by the state of technology in the West Wing which features aging Windows XP desktops. The particularly tech-savvy staff is accustomed to using new Macs and laptops, both of which are in short supply.

MSNBC is also reporting a rocky start with keeping the new WhiteHouse.gov up to date and trouble with the White House’s phone systems. The administration has vowed to overcome such hurdles and get the updates moving again. In the mean time, staffers were able to set up Gmail accounts to ease communication woes.

10 things to hate about the BlackBerry

Enterprising phone recon dudes at BGR outline the (completely true) things that suck about the BlackBerries.

Gadgets’n'Gizmos Thursday

It’s Thursday, and that means, er, nothing. But we do have gadgets for you!

  • The BlackBerry Storm reviews are starting to hit the web. All sources indicate that it’s good, but not yet ready to slay the incumbent iPhone. Cue the “rains on RIM’s parade” jokes.
  • It’s rare that new developments in the flash drive arena amount to more than new capacities, new colors or some new-fangled encryption scheme. Yet Kanguru has managed to deliver the goods by releasing a flash drive with an eSATA connection for superior throughput.
  • Packard Bell is back with a netbook. Everyone grab your warranties.
  • Meet Roofus, the beastly robot that plows snow like it ain’t no thang. We, for one, accept our new robot overlords.

BlackBerry Bold released

It’s November 4, 2008 and that means two things: electing the next President of the United States, and the release of the BlackBerry Bold. Delayed since August, the BlackBerry 9000 arrives in America on AT&T for $299 with a two year contract and a mail-in rebate.

Gmail 2.0 for Java phones

For users of J2ME-enabled or BlackBerry phones, the official Google mobile blog just announced the immediate availability of Gmail 2.0. The update supports multiple mail profiles, drafts, shortcuts, offline support, and refinements to the application’s performance.

Be sure to delete your existing installation of Gmail prior to installing the new version.

Gadgets’n'Gizmos Monday

It’s Monday! That’s right, while we all return to the grind to get our work on, gadget lust never stops. Take a peek at what the weekend wrestled up:

  • A bizarre little device from OLO will allegedly use the iPhone to deliver full-sized screen and keyboard. This product remains unrealized, but it’s coming real soon, honest guv.
  • RIM recently announced the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220. It’s a ghastly little clamshell phone that only a mother could love. It’s coming to T-Mobile today, so maybe it’s in the cards for you.
  • The Samsung BD-P1500 — typically $400 — will hit the shelves for a mere $149 on Black Friday. If you’re willing to struggle through the crowds of spawning and frantic people, you can secure set top Blu-ray for a fraction of MSRP.
  • Asus continues to dilute its Eee brand with a touch screen.
  • The XOHM-packing Nokia N810 tablet is finally in stock and ready to roll.  It’s so sleek, we can almost forgive that it’s a MID.
  • One phrase: Microscope on a chip. We know it sounds awesome enough that you just want to click.
  • Maybe you’re an Apple fan and want to look at what is allegedly the product of Apple’s new “brick” manufacturing process.

More to come throughout the day!
