NVIDIA GPU driver v190.38 released

nvidiaNVIDIA has taken the wraps off of the newest driver revision for GeForce 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, GT 100 and GTX 200-series GPUs. Weighing in at roughly 120MB, this beta Windows XP/Vista/7 driver delivers the following changes:

  • A PhysX update (v9.09.0428).
  • The primary display in a multi-monitor configuration on the GeForce GTX 285 will no longer switch to a custom resolution being set for a secondary display under Windows 7.
  • A Windows Vista system will now properly recover from standby if the system is configured with a GeForce 9800 GX2.

Clearly there is nothing earth shattering in this release, but it’s always a cozy feeling to have the newest drivers, so get your fix below.

NVIDIA GPU driver v186.18 released

nvidiaNVIDIA has taken the wraps off of the newest driver revision for GeForce 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, GT 100 and GTX 200-series GPUs. Weighing in at roughly 100MB, this WHQL Windows XP/Vista/7 driver delivers the following changes:

  • NVIDIA control panel settings are now saved when using a GeForce 9500 GS on Windows 7.
  • The SLI focus display can now be properly selected with SLI GeForce GTX 260s on Windows 7.
  • The SLI focus display can now be properly selected with SLI GeForce 9500 GS on Windows 7.
  • The system can now be resumed from standby on Windows Vista and Windows 7 x64 when using a GeForce 9800 GX2.

Clearly there is nothing earth shattering in this release, but it’s always a cozy feeling to have the newest drivers, so get your fix below.

  • Anisotropic filtering fixes for GTX 200-series GPUs on Windows 7.
  • Resolved visual corruption in Empire: Total War on SLI GeForce GTX 280 configurations in Windows 7.
  • Resolve sluggish NVIDIA control panel performance on GeForce 9800 GX2 configurations in Windows 7.

ATI releases Catalyst 9.5

ati_logoUPDATE @ 3:39 PM, 5/19/2009: The official AMD blog now offers a rundown of the updates offered in Catalyst 9.5.

No longer locked in a pissing match with NVIDIA over the GTX 275, ATI has returned to its regular driver schedule and kicked Catalyst 9.5 into the public.

The release notes for this driver release are presently unavailable, so we cannot offer a summary of the GPU support or major changes at this time. Still feeling brave? Go get ‘em, tiger.

NVIDIA and ATI add WHQL certification

Now that Microsoft has opened the doors on WHQL certification for Windows 7, both ATI and NVIDIA have made the grade and received the cert for their most recent driver packages; NVIDIA has respun their latest 185.81 to bear v185.85, and ATI has posted an update to the GPU driver portion of Catalyst 9.4. Links to the new drivers for both companies and all operating systems can be found below.

NVIDIA GPU driver v185.81 beta released

nvidiaNVIDIA has taken the wraps off of the newest driver revision for GeForce 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, GT 100 and GTX 200-series GPUs. Weighing in at roughly 80MB, this beta Windows XP/Vista/7 driver delivers the following changes:

  • This driver supports all of the new Windows 7 GPU-accelerated DirectX APIs: DirectX Compute, Direct2D, DirectWrite, and DXVA-HD.
  • Adds support for Ambient Occlusion: The newest NVIDIA Control Panel feature to offer enhanced 3D gaming realism exclusively to GeForce GPUs.
  • Expands GPU hardware acceleration for the NVIDIA Video Encoding library to GPUs with less than 32 cores. Applications using this library include CyberLink PowerDirector 7, Nero Move it 1.5, Loilo SuperLoiloScope MARS, and CyberLink MediaShow Espresso.
  • Accelerates performance in several 3D applications over v182.xx drivers. See the driver’s release notes for more information.

ATI releases Catalyst v9.4

ati_logoIt’s only been 22 days since AMD/ATI sprung Catalyst 9.3 on the public, but they’re back with a shiny new set for your discerning palette.  The newest kit from the boys in red is served with Radeon 2000/3000/4000-series support, performance enhancements and some new overclocking tricks. Check it:

  • ATI Catalyst 9.4 includes a new ATI Overdrive™ auto-tune application to accurately determine the best over-clocked engine and memory values for ATI Radeon HD 4000-series products.
  • High-definition video fixes
  • Game fixes
  • Some other stuff!
