The 700MHz spectrum auction ended yesterday, but the winners’ identities have not yet been released.
Verizon beats Google for biggest section?
I'm not surprised. I think it was smart:
"I'm not gonna bid on this auction unless the rules are such that even if I lose the auction, my company can still benefit from the release of the airwaves!"
Then they lost. They spend nothing upfront, but still get to use the airwaves as needed.
``This keeps the number of national competitors to a minimum and will help allow Verizon to keep its customer loyalty rate high,''
Or something like that. Yeah.
