  • Disciple::Since we build hi end gaming systems, I really think I do know what I am talking about. The video card you are mentioning is antiquicated and no-one would order a new system with a that card installed in it. A system with that card install…
  • Then you see the point that I am attempting to get across. The DX9 games will run on a non DX9 video card, but not nearly as well as it will on a DX9 video card. The game you have shows that the difference is quite noticable, and if you were purchas…
  • You are correct on all the past games of DXx through DX8. DX9 and above is a different color horse and it works different than the older games. Afterall DX9+ games are what we are talking about. I know you haven't had any expierence in those games t…
  • Well what you will come up with is a screen with fps of somewhere near 5-15 fps. If you have a good DX9 card that will read the shaders properly these fps will be in the 30-60fps area. So it depends on wheather 5-15fps is playable for you or not. I…
  • Maybe I am missing something. Did you have the SATA drivers installed on the old drive before the ghosting? If so how did you go about the install into the OS on the old drive? The reason I am asking is the old drive was an IDE controller, so what …
  • You have to install the SATA drivers into the OS before the OS will see the drive and boot from it.
  • UNCleanlyCorpse:: Anyone can make the nVidia cards sound the best, then the same can be said for the ATI cards. What really matters is what makes the person that ownes the system happy. You seem to be nVidia prone and wish that the card you look to …
  • For $100.00 if you can get a GF4-Ti4200 that will be the best video card. If I understand, you put down "HL2", the Ti4200 will not run that game, it is a DX9 game and the Ti4200 is not a DX9 piece of hardware. All the rest of the stuff the…
  • With Abit or Asus the v2.xx is the mobo that goes to and over 200fsb's. I would not get the v1.xx unless you just don't want or need the high fsb's.
  • Did you figure the problem out?
  • Sounds almost like the problem I had with a video card awhile back. Onscreen there was a checkerboard but the squares was different colors, and not black and white. Replacement of the video card solved this problem.
  • You asked about a video card that is good, not the best. The Radeon 9600 Pro DDR128 will do whatever you want to do and will play any game you want to play. The card can be purchased for about $150.00.

  • There is NO MULTIPLAYER version of HL2 at this time.
  • The XT will have 256mb of DDR memory and it will be faster memory than the 9600 Pro has. The XT core will be clocked a bit higher than the Pro version. Overall the XT will be a bit faster than the Pro, but both will do exactly the same as far as ga…
  • The Radeon cards made by ASUS or Sapphire Tech are hard to beat in the performance arena. They are not made by ATI, but very high quality as well as performance.
  • Well let's see, if you can't afford the 9800 Pro, go for the 9700Pro, or the 9600Pro-9500Pro. The prices start at $140.00 and go up to $300.00, so take your pick. The 9800 Pro is by far the best card out there. Under that the more bang for the buck …
  • I am not attempting to make you look like anything. I will say again if your monitor is not getting a video signal, you will get this message you are getting. So to get around this problem, you need to find what the problem is or why your monitor is…
  • Did you disable the onboard video on the system you have upgraded the OS? Then is the drivers for your pci video card, written for XP Pro? I would put more emphases on the second part than the first. Usually most mobo's will automatically recognize …
  • You could format the HD and reinstall the OS, then install the mobo drivers, then the latest video card drivers for your card. If this does not resolve the problem, I would suggest looking for a new video card.
  • Any time you get no video signal to the monitor, you will get this message on some monitors. This is not necessary a mobo problem, it may be a video card that is not seated properly into the AGP slot. It may even come from faults of some related com…
  • I guess I am messing something, I think Halo has great visuals for the PC. Some of the best I have ever seen, I do not own a XBox or anyother box. I only own this PC, but I have looked at a lot of games on this PC.

  • Overall, the 9600XT will outperform the TI4200. The #1 way it will outperform the 4200 is in DX9 games. Just remember all games coming out in the future will be DX9 based, some are all DX9 and some will be DX9 and DX8 mixed, those latter games you p…
  • I found what the problem was when I was having all the corrupted files. I had downloaded DX9.0b from MS. This DX9.0b was over 25gb in size. I had been using this file for all the DX9 games prior to Halo and no problems of any kind. I also installed …
  • They are both running off the PCI bus so they should be the same. Only SATA is rated faster than PCI raid. PCI raid runs at either 100 or 133, SATA runs at 150 speeds.
  • There is a sticker (maybe 2"-3") on the side of the powersupply, on this sticker will be the ampers ratings of all three rails of that unit. This is what I was asking for. These ampers ratings will tell how good your powersupply is. As fa…
  • I have downloaded the 3.9set and have a excellent report on those drivers, control panel, and tweaker. Not a problem one with these drivers.
  • Before you make a final decision. I suggest you go to the Intel forum, and go to the ASUS thread, then go to Abit thread, and so on. This may help you in making a decision as to which has the most problems and what these problems are. I am running m…
  • That nF7 is a good board, certainly will do what you need. You can install a new IDE Raid controller card and then you will have the raid like you want. Surely you can pick up a raid controller card for not much $$$.
  • It would help a great deal if you would list all the components in your system. Use some order as the mobo, bios, video card,cpu,hs/fan,hd,case & ps,cdrw,dvd-r,floppy,what cabling being used to the drives. What is the brand of the PS, and what is …
