I did a full ketogenic program last Feb to May.

I lost 51.3 pounds during that time frame.!

After that, I kept to it on and off.

I gained about 14 pounds since then. I've jumped back on a full keto program again since Jan 2, and have already lost 5 pounds.

I quit the bottle more than two months ago now. I didn't have any specific physiological problem that some folks struggle with, I was just drinking more than I had and I was spending more time around people that would drink as part of their regular routine and I discovered that I just didn't want to be a part of that culture. I didn't like it, I didn't really like them, I needed a fresh start, a clean break.

I first announced it to my daughter to make a commitment. I said kid, your Dad is kinda fat, feeling a little slow these days, I'm going to give up the beer for a while, maybe you can hit the gym with me here and there. I think like all half assed commitments I have ever aspired to make she just sort of was like "sure Dad"...

It's been over two months and I have not touched a drop. It's become a matter of pride for me at this point, like I'm doing it, I'm showing myself that I have enough willpower to see it all the way through. I have lost a few pounds, nothing dramatic, but I'm slowly ramping up my physical work and still eating mostly poorly. But my mind... I've never felt so clear. Booze in any regular consumption cycle does this thing to your brain, I can't quite explain it, it adjusts your levels till you need a little more booze, or maybe more caffeine to come back the other way. Now I drink a cup of coffee in the morning to get going, I sleep fairly normally unless I'm stupid and I drink a giant cold brew coffee late, I don't need nearly as much caffeine to get through my day, I feel a greater emotional stability, when I'm upset about something my first thought isn't "where is my drink", I just sort of cope with it, think about an effective strategy for actually dealing with it and moving forward. I'm saving money too, of course I can find plenty of other stupid things to spend it on, but it's nice to have. I don't have an actual scientific number on a spreadsheet or anything, but I'd guess I have saved about $400 or so since I gave it up. I keep telling myself that's enough for that bitchin Spider Man PS4 Pro, but I have not pulled the trigger yet.

Today is going to be a challenge. It's the first day of regular season Merican Football and my wife's side of the family is obsessed with it. I'm invited to a party and ultimately, I was asked to go get the beer because in the past that's just what I did. I really don't want to do it, like I have not told everybody, my wife knows, my daughter knows, my mom and dad know, but other than that, I haven't really been like, look guys, I'm doing this thing for myself!!! So, it's going to be awkward because for years now, I'd drink a fair bit of beer, and today I'm not going to. I've decided before going there, it's a commitment I've made to myself and I'm keeping it despite whatever temptations are available.

Anyhow, if you have never done it in your adult life, I highly recommend letting the bottle go for a bit. It does not have to be sixty days, but I'd say a good three weeks or so is what it takes for your brain to sort of reboot. You get a chance to evaluate your own relationship with booze and kind of see how you feel without it for a stretch. In my adult life I only gave it up once for longer than this, but it was because I had an out of control stomach condition that forced me to, it wasn't by choice. This time I want to, and I feel really good about what I have accomplished so far. I made a commitment to myself, I have stuck to it, I know I'm going to continue to, now if I can just aspire to give up the Eskimo Pies in the freezer.... I think I can, I think I can....

Hi,

Some folks noticed that I lost some weight when I saw yous at EPIC.

In May I was at my heaviest I had ever been I think 217 when I got a physical, 30ish% body fat, 35 inch waist... obese. It was pretty depressing.

Since then I had some life changing events happen that really drove me to change myself more than ever.

Now, it is July. I am down to 178lbs. 16.8% body fat, and 30-31in waist. Physically and mentally it feels great too lose all of that weight.

How did I do this? Pretty simple really. Calorie deficit and a lot of exercise. I didn't really change too much about my eating habits other than pretty much cut them in half. No junk or fast foods. Try to eat more lean meats and vegetables. No micro nutrition, just good choices and common sense. I always wanted to do some sort of race like a triathlon or running thing, so I just set the goal of doing the local Reeds Lake Tri in September. I started exercising 6 sometimes seven days a week. Lifting weights, running, swimming, biking. Just mixed it up. The weight started to fall off quick.

I know, most people don't have the time or desire to spend that much time in the gym, but I have a lot of free time so I do.

My goal, other then the sort term of my first Triathlon is I really just don't want to be an overweight/obese statistic. Primarily, and as vain as it is, I want to have an attractive body that as to my eye I have never had. Up until the race I am continuing to burn fat and lose as much weight as I can to increase my speed. After that I should be at a pretty low body fat %. Then I would like to start working on specific areas to build some muscle. My legs look like that of a chicken.

I didn't think to take any "before" pictures but most people know what I looked like. Here is today with pants that used to fit for reference.

I'll put some updates on here as I get closer to the race and talk a bit about it when I actually do it too. Feel free to ask any questions.

I am now a long distance runner (marathoner, half-marathoner) but essentially doing my distance running at 3:00 AM. It's the only time I can fit it in before hitting the hospital or the college for teaching duties. Needless to say, I have dropped an amazing amount of weight (now quite thin) but glad to be back on the site.

Anyone else out there doing some long-distance running? Drop me a line or post some of your experiences.

My struggle for health has not been easy. Believe it or not I really do not like the way I look in almost every sense. Now this isn't me needing your affirmations as to how you see me. I realized to be happy I needed to change myself. I got to this place of such low self esteem for years of bullying but mostly for not giving myself any worth. In 4 years I let myself gain about 60 pounds and many pant sizes and realized I wasn't watching how I ate at all. I only drank pop and ate fast food. I hit a point where I removed mirrors from my room and I knew I needed to change. I decided new year new me can work. This January I gave up pop and crappy food. I now watch calorie consumption and drink mostly water. I realized my sugar addiction and I still battle it but I am improving. Here is where I need a little help. I have hit a plateau at about 14 pounds weight lost. How have any of you improved your fitness or health. I don't exercise much and I don't know where to start so any suggestions would be great.

So a year ago today I started lifting. My two biggest goals were functional strength and minimized gym time. Reading through various routines I liked the sound of a program called 5/3/1 (with a beginner's twist). I also found that it utilized big, primary lifts - which happened to pair well with a thing I heard others shooting for: the "Thousand Pound Club". Whelp, now I've got a 3rd goal I guess.

Here's a quick look at the weight I was moving 1 year ago today (9/30/15):
Overhead Press: 60lbs
Deadlift: 115lbs
Bench Press: 105lbs
Squat: 125lbs

The weights were intentionally on the lighter side until I was confident that form was solid and I wasn't going to injure myself. Fast forward today and the weight that I'm moving looks more like this:
Overhead Press: 135lbs
Deadlift: 295lbs
Bench Press: 185lbs
Squat: 275lbs

I had no idea if the routine was something I would stick with... if it would really allow me to get stronger at only 3-4 hours of gym time a week. Here I stand a year later, stronger than I've ever been and confident that every single hour spent in that gym has been worth it.

I think it's time to share my struggles and successes with the community that I love.

Almost a month ago, I decided to take control of my diet. There are a lot of factors that contributed, but something just snapped (as they say it always happens). At 34 years old, I am on the fast track to diabetes, as it runs strongly on both sides of my family, I am extremely overweight, and my lifestyle is entirely sedentary. I had a blood pressure scare earlier in the year, I suffer from sleep apnea, and I'm just generally miserable with my body.

I read a post on Reddit from a guy who was 800lbs, and lost 300. His thread was about his depression at still being extremely overweight even after the struggle that it took to lose that crazy amount of weight. To sum it up, "Yeah, I lost three hundred pounds. People look at me and I'm still 500 pounds."

I know I could never get to be that out of control, but I knew where this guy was, mentally; many of you will remember that a couple of years ago I went a bit nuts and started nightly walks and blogged about it every day to keep myself motivated. After months of that, I lost about 20 pounds, but I was highly discouraged because it didn't really look like I lost 20 pounds. I lost it in my thighs and around my groin; areas that didn't show when I had clothing on. The amount of effort to lose those twenty pounds was incredible for me. Maybe it's the sleep apnea, maybe it's my thyroid disorder, whatever... I grew to loathe the walking so much that I would literally wake up in the morning and ALREADY have anxiety about the walk I would be taking that night. It was unsustainable, and I stopped. The weight came back.

At any rate, through Reddit I found the Keto subreddit and started doing some research. The more I read, the more sense it made. I decided to try it. I was highly encouraged by how successful the community members were.

So it's been almost thirty days. I've lost a bit over twenty pounds already; needless to say, it works. Besides the dramatic weight loss in such a short time, I also feel much, much better; both mentally and physically. My freaking teeth feel healthier. I'm sleeping a little better. My allergies which normally plague me heavily during autumn have entirely disappeared. It's almost like a miracle diet.

Keto is not a healthy lifestyle for the long-term. What it is is a short-term plan to lose weight; it can be rotated in and out with other smart food choices. I don't want anybody to be concerned about my liver or kidneys or brain or whatever; believe me, I've read (and heard) all the criticisms and "Oh, that's quack medicine" and whatnot.

For me, Keto hasn't been much other than eliminating grains and sugar entirely from my diet. It sounds simple, but it limits your food choices remarkably. Going to a grocery store, it's amazing to see it with Keto eyes; there's almost nothing in the entire store you can eat that's not fresh produce or meat. 85% of the store shelves are useless. The western diet is absolutely inundated with all kinds of sugars and wheat. It's no wonder we are the unhealthiest people in the world (and cultures that adopt our diet are finding out the same things. Diabetes. Obesity. Heart disease.)

At any rate, my "fat" pants are now starting to fall off of me. My belt is now at the tightest notch and I'll probably need to drill a new hole soon. Six months from now, I'll probably need a new wardrobe.

Keto is 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs. I've been keeping extremely strict, under 20g carbs a day, and have been ensuring my ketosis with urinalysis. I have not had one single cheat day (as cheating would knock me out of ketosis and it may take 5-7 days to get back into it. Not worth it.) The only downsides so far have been remarkably smelly urine and occasional complaints of slightly off body odor (the body excretes acetone during ketosis).

I've been cooking a great deal more (I don't really have a choice). I've been planning meals ahead, and I've been eating MUCH better. I eat a lot of fresh meat and a ton of leafy greens, most notably spinach and kale. Eating keto is very difficult in certain situations (most sauces, etc, are loaded with carbs), but I'm used to it now and can eat correctly with little effort. It's becoming a habit.

For the long term, I am heavily considering moving into a paleo diet. I think I'll be able to cut wheat entirely from my diet for life; I really don't miss it. When I am transitioning away from keto I'll be adding healthier carbs to my diet; namely rice, potatoes, and carrots. Eating sugar-free is not as hard as I thought it would be.

At any rate, I hope my struggles and successes encourage others who are trying to lose weight. I truly gave up hope that I'd ever be able to lose weight, but this is actually working for me, and I'm reasonably certain I can make a lifestyle out of this.

"It" refers to Deep-Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which basically is a blood clot you get from sitting in one position for too long. So if you ever find yourself going to be ... "inactive" for numerous hours, take a minute or two every few hours to roll over, grab a snack, use the restroom, chase squirrels, parkour, or whatever to reset your blood flow.

//sad story

Some time around the age of 11, I outgrew my rad Huffy BMX bike and sold it at a garage sale. When I turned 12, my parents gave me a birthday card promising to buy me a new bicycle. We were in the process of moving to Oklahoma at the time, so bike shopping had to wait until we got here.

When we got here, I lived in a neighborhood where riding bikes wasn't a safe thing to do. We had a rental house, so the promise became "once we get a real house" and I had to wait. Then we moved to the country and had a gravel road with crappy ditches on either side, and the only traffic was wheat trucks driving 80mph down the street. This too was deemed unsafe, and my bicycle owning dream was left to rot in the wheat fields.

I'm 25 now. Still have the card, and damnit, I'm gonna get my bike. After all these years, my folks are still tired of me pulling the "oh, like that bike you promised and I never got" comment. They've offered to get me one, finally.
//end sad story

I need to get out of the house and <s>lose some weight</s>, do something physical. I'm looking for suggestions on a mountain bike or similar that can take the abuse of potholed roads and gravel. Any suggestions on something durable and strong? It seems that 10-speeds barely exist these days, and all the bike makers I used to know are the pits. Also, it needs to be below $300, as I understand the offer.

Yup, I said 60, and yup, I'm assuming this is the right place for this...

So this starts about 5 years ago; it's Jan '10 and I just got back from the UK and I weighed... about 145lbs and am/was 5'10''(ish). I liked my weight, I was surprised I lost weight in college drinking rather than putting it on (started uni at 195lbs).

Anyhow, flash forward 5 years and almost 4 years working different desk jobs at EA and in February I was at 227lbs. I ate like sh*t, didn't get up and walk around all that much, and I drank at least 4 coca-colas a day. So in April I decided I needed to change things up, I didn't like what I was seeing in the mirror and I felt like crap. I decided to do the following:
1. Cut out all coca-cola (I have one or two on the weekend if I feel like it) - I really thought this was gonna be the hardest thing, but I replaced coke with sparkling water and it seems to have done the trick
2. Drink more water, see 1.
3. Watch my caloric intake - I started using MyFitnessPal to start to keep track of what I was eating (and drinking, thanks beer) and have stuck to doing about 1450 calories a day, seems to be working. I then got a fitbit and have been trying to stick to its recommendations, also seems to be working lol
4. Try and be more active - I've got an iPhone 6 which does the step measuring, but I also decided to get myself one of them fitbit one's that clips on to your belt or pocket (it's on my pocket), I've got it set to some fairly easy step goals since work sucks
5. Stop eating like shit - This I blame recently one work, when I started on the team I'm on now there was a lot of OT and that meant a lot of waiter.com meals from random restraunts, I tried staying healthy, but all of that stuff was just bad anyhow, so I've tried not ordering unless I know it's gonna be an uber late night.
6. Eat better - if any of you follow my instagram (https://instagram.com/dontcallmekelso/) you'll often see what I'm making for dinner. I've been doing chicken, salmon, steaks every now and then, what ever I feel like that isn't stupid and unhealthy (I miss my fried breakfasts sometimes)
7. Continue drinking beer - I dunno, I like beer, wasn't gonna change this, was gonna work around it and drink "less often"

Anyhow, I started at 227 and today I'm at 219.8! Yay! Only 54.8 lbs to go to hit my goal!

Can anyone recommend me a bike light that is rechargeable? I would prefer something USB based for compatibility reasons. I have a decent bike light now. The problem is that it runs on AAA batteries which would be fine, but the optimal light output is 50% charge and above. I don't want to have a pile of half charged AAA batteries when the only other devices I can use them in is remotes and my grill starter. I don't want to "get my moneys worth" by using all the battery. I should say I'm only out after dusk a couple of times per month, but when I am I want full bright light for safety reasons.

I've been looking at the Light and Motion Urban line such as this one.

For about 14 years now I've had a major fight with my weight, and until this year it's been a losing battle. Here and there I've been able to drop small amounts in short periods, but it keeps coming back, often with reinforcements.

I've been participating in a karate class with coworkers for almost 2.5 years now, and despite some intense workouts the weight wasn't coming off, nor was any appreciable muscle mass being gained. I've been trying to prepare for my brown belt test (a 3-4 hour test of strength, skill, and endurance) and wasn't at all confident I'd make it to the end of the test in my (then) current shape.

Then in early March I talked to a nutritionist friend who looked at what I was eating, and with a slight adjustment of calories per day, swapping out one protein supplement for another, and a higher meal frequency I went from this (Disneyland in October of last year (220+ lbs)):

To this (same clothes, two weeks ago (208 lbs)):

Once I started the current eating plan, my energy levels skyrocketed, the weight started coming off, and I started gaining muscle. It's been quite surprising how quickly things have worked. Karate is no problem now, and I should be testing for brown belt at month's end without fear of exhaustion.

For extra incentive 28 days ago, I joined in on @MomOfRose's dietbet challenge plus two other games and actually hit my goal weight late in the second week.

If the weight loss continues at its current pace, I'm on track to be around 200lbs at Expo.

I'm looking into expanding the amount of data I collect while running by adding a heart rate monitor into the mix. Right now, I'm leaning toward picking up the MIO Link which should work with RunKeeper (once they release the next Android version). However, as is always the case, I'm not sure if I am making the right decision or overlooking something better. This is what I'm looking for:

Single-purpose device. I don't need it to do anything but monitor heart rate. I have a FitBit One for tracking my steps, and a smart phone for GPS when applicable. It may be old fashioned of me, but I like my devices to do one thing and do them well.

Reasonable price (this ties into the above). Really would prefer it to be under $100.

Wrist monitoring strongly preferred. I really don't want to wear a chest strap if I can avoid it.

Ability to sync with 3rd party applications. Preferably via BTLE. ANT+ is a bonus, though I don't have anything that would need it... yet. While I'd like to track my heart rate directly through RunKeeper, I'd settle for it syncing to another service which will sync with RunKeeper on the backend.

If anyone has other device recommendations for me, can think of something I'm overlooking, or commentary on why I'm a bad, I'm open to hearing it. I'd prefer the first two things over the latter, though.

Remembering back to the days before ICOK 2013 we had a pretty good group going for motivation to run/walk and lose weight. Therefore, I thought of all of you! So, I think we should create a spreadsheet and motivate each other to get going again. The moon is approximately 7,000 miles around, and I think Icrontic can run around it this year. Let's start today, you can walk, run, elliptical, or any other activity you can record in miles!

As those of you who have met me know, I'm not a very svelte person. Never have been. Don't even know what it's like to be "in shape". Since college, though, it's only gotten worse. Last year, my girlfriend decided to join WeightWatchers after getting her photos back from her annual beach vacation with her family (contentedness breeds inactivity, right?). At the time I couldn't afford to join her. Finally, mid-January, I had freed up enough money in the budget and and joined as well. I'm 1 month in at this point and have lost an underwhelming, but better than nothing, 7 pounds. That leaves only 118 (or roughly 1/3 of my body weight) to go in order to reach my "maximum safe BMI".

As the second part of my commitment to getting fit, yesterday I completed my first ever 5k, the Heart Throb 5k. Obviously, since both Marysia and I are quite out of shape, we were at the far back of the pack (though not the last people to finish at least). It was a bit of a struggle and I'm definitely feeling it today, but it was nice just to finish it. My goal on this front is to get in good enough shape to compete in Run For Your Lives, the zombie 5K. This is obviously going to take some time (I'll be shocked if I'm able to do this by the later 2013 dates), but hey, that's what long-term goals are supposed to be, right?

Just thought I would post here to keep myself accountable... hopefully I'll be updating this thread from time to time with accomplishments.

Also, inb4 Thrax tells me I'm doing everything wrong.

Guys, list-- GUYS! Okay, guys, listen... GUYS, LISTEN!

Disneyland holds several half marathons a year (with a full marathon being held at Disneyworld), and they're AWESOME. I've done a Disney half marathon with my father, and it was an absolute BLAST. They have lots of refreshments along the course (water and gatorade, and stuff like protein bars all over the place that volunteers will literally run up to you with, and then food at the end for you), entertainment like live bands along the course as well as cheerleading squads screaming out your name in encouragement (your name will be written on your bib number). I consider the Disney half marathons one of the best experiences of my life and have been wanting to do another one for a very long time.

BUT WAIT! This one is Star Wars themed, so there's going to be Star Wars themed entertainment, Star Wars characters walking around, and a Star Wars themed medal at the end. Not to mention all the other great stuff that comes with being a participant. There's a whole event weekend surrounding this, and who loves event weekends better than Icrontic? And if Icrontic is going to run a half marathon... I mean, seriously. What better half than a Star Wars half?

This is the first EVER Star Wars themed half that they've ever done, so you can be a part of history! You can be a part of the magic!

It's in January, which gives you 6 months to train which is plenty of time. If anyone's interested, we can put an Icrontic group together and have matching shirts and stuff, also with the added bonus of you not needing a hotel since Dan and I would be more than happy to host anyone who came by to do this.

More info can be found here: http://www.rundisney.com/star-wars-half-marathon/

I'm doing this for sure, and sign ups start tomorrow at noon. If you're interested, I would suggest getting your spot quickly, because they sell out super fast.

I hope to see a couple of you there!

Hey there, friends! I've seen a few fitness threads pop up over the course of the past two years since I joined Icrontic, so I think some of you will be interested in doing this with me. Since my dad and I have decided to finally go for the string of California marathons we've been eyeing for a couple years (and since my Doctor said it's okay!), I've been running seriously again for about two weeks now, and I'm trying to make it a point to do it, even if only for a quick warm up jog, every single day. Even after 11 days, I feel better and more energetic than I have in months... But, as with anything, it's always nice to have company. Which is where you come in. Maybe.

I propose 100 days of running.

I want to make a point of saying that this isn't about losing weight. It's about being healthy and active. I'm calling this "100 days of running", but it can be anything. Just make it a point to get up and do something for 30 minutes a day for the next 100 days. I know that 30 minutes is asking a lot when you have lives and families that need tending to, but it's easy to fit it in. Today, I took 10 minutes out of my lunch break to take a quick jog down the street and back. That's a mile of extra healthiness under your belt for just ten minutes of your down time. It'll be easy to fit in 20 more minutes from here.

This also isn't about being discouraged. If 100 days sounds daunting, don't let it. Take the stairs instead of the elevator one day. Get off your bus 2 stops too soon. DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING. Everything counts, because it isn't a competition. It's more like a call to arms, except instead of arms, it's arms and legs and heart and... everything else.

And as if being healthier wasn't enough, I'm also going to send everyone who chooses to participate a special pin. Yup, that's right! You get swag.

So, I hope some people join me in this. I've been using the hashtag #100daysofrunning on Twitter when I say anything about this. You should, too.

Last year (after I had Marty) I decided to run a 5k every month to get back in shape. I ended up running 15 5ks last year and by the December one I was really ready for a bigger challenge but wasn't sure exactly what. Well during my christmas vacation I stumbled on this blog (http://www.runsforcookies.com/2013/10/final-thoughts-on-hansons-marathon.html)

Now, I wasn't immediately sold on running a marathon; for heavens sake its 26.2 miles! But my company sponsors any employee who wants to run the Heart Mini races, so Jan 1st I started following Hansons Marathon Method figuring that it would prepare me for 13.1 miles just in time for the Heart Mini on March 16th and then I could stop training if I wanted to. It was pretty cold on race day but I finished in a somewhat respectable 2:45.

Well, the running wasn't so bad and the first 2.5 months of training had netted me a 15lb weight loss and I figured that if anything, I could keep running a little and maybe sign up for the Flying Pig halfMarathon and that should help me lose the last few pounds of baby weight. So I just kept following the schedule. And running. And running. After some significant peer pressure from running friends at work I signed up for the Flying Pig <del>Half-</del>Marathon.

So I might be crazy, but I'm pretty sure I'm ready. If anyone happens to be around Cincy on Sunday, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing friendly faces along the course or at the finish line As a side note I'm now down over 25lbs and lighter than I was when I graduated from high school. Probably time to put some muscle on after Sunday

Alright... here goes. I started a thread before, but here's a new one. New goals - or at least paying better attention to things and tracking my calories and progress.

Had a health assessment at work for an insurance incentive, and here are the results of where I'm at currently:

Height - 5' 6"
Weight - 167 pounds
Body Fat - 36.2% (much higher than I expected...)
BMI - 27
Waist - 31 inches
Hips - 42 inches
Pant Size - between 10 and 12 (Gap/Banana Republic sizing)

I'll get more info from the blood test in a few weeks.

Ultimately I would like to make my first goal to get down to 150 pounds, but what is more important to me is feeling good and reducing my body fat percentage (I need one of those fancy machines they used!).

I've been doing Zumba regularly (1 to 2 days a week) and started getting back into lifting weights. Just need to get into a better routine.
Also started counting calories using myfitnesspal.com. Looking at 1200 calories/day to lose 2 pounds/week - not sure how accurately I'm counting (since I never eat processed food - always cook or eat food from the farmers markets or local restaurants, which aren't easy to locate the nutrition facts), but I'm trying!

I already have been feeling good going to zumba, and it's been giving me more energy, and the only time I'm really self-conscious is in a bathing suit or in shorts. I've always tried wearing clothes that are flattering, and also have noticed that I've been carrying my weight better since drinking less, although it's getting closer to the best beer season...

Just want to be healthier, ultimately. So here goes, I guess!

So, following in the footsteps of @LazarusXero, I am going to be training for the Tough Mudder race in 2013. I wanted to give myself plenty of training time to cope with any injuries that may occur and shed these extra pounds well before race day. The 2012 race is late in March, so I'm guessing next year's will be at the same time (inb4 12/12/12).

My training plan at this time is C25K with my first race 5K on February 19th. 5K to 10K training with a 10K in June, then working my way up to a half-marathon from there. I'll maintain that distance (or maybe keep going if I'm feeling saucy) and do a half marathon ~September and again in December.

For strength/cross training, I'm doing the 100 pushups program and will begin using the tough mudder training program after that. I imagine I'll be in the gym with some more structured training as well, but I definitely want the whole body exercises offered by the Tough Mudder workout.

For diet: initially, I am going to be going for keto diet (unless someone comes along and tells me otherwise) and have my first 6 days of food ready to cook tomorrow. I plan to use this to help shed the excess weight, which will help with exercising and general health. After I get to something closer to my "ideal" body weight, I'll begin morphing that into either a paleo-ish diet or maybe something like the P90X eating plan. I haven't gotten there yet.

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome.
