"Aquired" it at a lan party and was curious cause I've never played it or HL *gasps*. Been playing for a few days on a local server and I've gotta say it's the worse game I've ever played. Everything is so unrealistic. Guns have terrible aiming but from over 200ft they can kill you from a headshot with a SMG. So slow when crouching and after jumping, I just can't get the feel for the game. Only thing I can say I actually like, are the maps. Rather good for an old game. I can't see what's all they hype with the game. Maybe I'll play when (if) they make a version for HL2. Gotta be more realistic... Everyone probably already knows but just a random rant :)

I really like it, you just got to get used to cuz my aim is fine from under 200ft. And the only reason i play is because i like to play in leagues.

Its different than other FPS (first person shooters). It just takes time to get used to. Halflife was the first FPS I played, and CS was pretty much the first online FPS i played. So I guess I am just used to the play style. I also play/ed UT, UT2k3, Q3, Seriuos Sam 2, Tribes 2, AVP, AVP 2, BF1942, RTCW and ... more ... CS is still the most fun/addicting. In a way, it is more realistic due to the recoil and slow movement ... but also retains the unrealistic-ness you need to have fun :P Its a mix between rainbow six, and HL deathmatch basically. It just takes time to get used to/hooked. My 2 cents.

What made CS so popular originally was the polished teamplay and objectives for your team to accomplish. Accuracy and features continue to change with each release, but I've long lost my interest.
Too many pre-pubescent punks play the game nowadays, and my God are they annoying. You can mute the voice chat, and if I could turn off all text chat too I might start playing again, heh.

For real? I sure don't remember that. Even so, the myriad of admin mods with all their damned glowy text can't be gotten rid of. People just love glowy text for some reason.

CS is the only game I _do_ play

I'm not a gamer, but I do really enjoy the game. There's alot of room for stratigy. Unlike faster pased games, you can out think your oponent. Use the objective as your leverage, and forget about the idiots running around in circles looking for a frag. CS has nothing to do with frags, its all amout the objective and keeping the odds in your favor with it.

BUT, i will admit it is without doubt, the far worst community in gaming. The average player is a little puke looking for nothing but an argument or way to start a verbal conflict. Droves of idiot players have absolutly no idea how to play, what an objective even is, and just run in circles untill everyones dead. I would never ever consider playing on a server I didn't own/admin, and would highly recommend finding an adult server ran by an adult community.

This is why CS turns so many people off Rob :(

You gotta play with the right people to really see that real elements of the game. I've been told this before.

FireArms for Half-Life. More guns, more teamwork, skill system. It's based off territorial war instead of terrorism. A lot of people don't care for the gameplay, but a lot do. Read the manual, download, play.

If you'd like a fun bunch of us to hang out with. http://www.clanpop.org [PoP] owns/hosts TTP (Tracy's Trailer Park) I ping 20ms, most ping below 50.

You've described Raven Shield more than CS :p All the CS games I've played are people just running around and waiting at certain points. It's like this on every single map. IMHO there is no strategy in CS. Although I'm a Rainbow Six kinda of person, I've gotta say that it's community seems more mature. Less than 3 times in the months that I've been playing have I seen some whiney n00b saying that someone's is cheating. Bad thing is that it's a bit more realistic than what people like.

Thats because 99/100 CS players have absolutly no idea how to play. Objectives are not enforced, and if all the team does is run around and frag, then thats all you get.

Personally, I'm gonna plant the bomb, defend the site, and win. you can sit on your duff all you want, i'm not gonna come looking for you.

The stratigy is there, the intellegence of the players is whats lacking.
