quick-reply box + email notification???

if this subject has appeared before and a resolution was met, than i apologize for resurrecting it, but i thought i'd at least ask...

...anyway, something i really liked about the icrontic website back in the day was that i would get an email notification for responses to threads i'd posted in using the quick-reply box as opposed to clicking on "post reply" and going through that whole bit. i was just wondering if that would be possible here at short-media? i love how convenient the quick-reply box is, but it's a bit of a hastle to use it and then have to click on the "subscribe to this thread" link; it would be nice if it could just automatically subscribe me to any thread i decide to post in via the quick-reply box.

thank you!

I think its not an option in the VB version that we have to have the notification box next to the quick reply. Did I get that right shorty?

Another thing: Email notification doesnt work with subscribed forums.

i mean, not even a box that needs to be checked, just straight up automatically subscribing me to any thread i reply to via the quick-reply mechanism... but if that isn't doable, it's cool.

I just asked Shory about this last night in the forum changes thread. He told me (as Marc already said) that this newer version of the VBB can't do it, least until someone updates the "Quick reply box" code.

The hack will never be updated as Vbulletin 3 has a full quick reply with enough options to sink a battleship ;D

Dunno.. guess I always found this button below useful ;)

Well I've known it was there, I just rather that posting w/ quick reply would do it for you automaticly.

Is this the "solution"? This is cool, now I never really need to use the regular post reply button

    THX Shorty!

    P.S.

leave the emoticons off, they'd take up too much space

Just a link opening them in a new window. It'd take no space at all.

I _can_ but they won't show in your posts if you click on them. The function for smilies will not parse them back into the post. You'd have to look them up manually.

I can give it a try but no promises :)

Go for it Shorty. If anything we could use it to look up the VB code and place it in the posts ourselves.
