x2 4200+

hi all . i am currently going for an upgrade to an x2 4200+ on my k8nsnxp-939 . what i am not sure about is wether i need to reinstall my XP sp2 again . read in some forums that its better to do that . just not sure???

also do i need drivers for it ?

    Are you just upgrading the CPU? There shouldn't be anything you need to do other than turn off the PC, swap CPU's, and turn the PC back on...

    But I'll leave the final answer to others...

    If you are only upgrading the CPU, you do not need to reinstall windows :)

    Yeah, you should be all set. Just pop it in and go. However, I would recommed upgrading the BIOS to insure compatibility with such a new chip.

    thank you very much everyone . yeah i have upgraded my bios to the latest.thats what i thought had to be done was just drop it in
