Nvidia's new line of G80 GPU's look to be inline as 80nm chips with an upgrade into the GDDR4 arena. Other than that, the 8900GTX looks and sounds to be the same as the 8800GTX. Supporting the 384-bit memory interface and still holding on to the 768MB of memory, the card will still use 128 shaders but we assume it will be a nice upgrade as Nvidia has pushed the core clock to 700MHz with the memory running at 2200MHz. You will also want to keep in mind with the 80nm chip this card will run cooler and faster, so we should also see some great overclocks out of these cards. I suspect the 8900GTX series to hit the market at $550-$600 range, so it won’t be so easy on your pocket book.

Also in Nvidia's arsenal is a brand new dual GPU setup unofficially titled the 8950GX2. Taking off from the original 7950GX2, this new beast will house what looks to be two new G80 80nm chips clocked at 550MHz and will sport two sets of 512MB GDDR4 memory, giving the card 1GB of video memory. The 8950GX2 will also show off 96 shaders per core giving us access to 192 shaders. While two 8900GTX's will probably perform better in a SLI setup, you can see the consumers with single PCI-E slots on their current motherboards will have an option to upgrade to a monster of a graphics card. I can see the 8950GX2 hitting the market in the sub $600's running on up to the $700 range.

Along with the two top dogs, Nvidia will also have a flurry of other cards that will be mixed in such as the 8900GTS and an 8900GS. The 8900GTS will get a bit of a boost over the current 8800GTS. The new card will sport 600MHz core clock and 2000MHz GDDR4 memory. The card will still run with 320-bit memory controller and 640MB of memory. Expect this card to hit the market at $489- $529. Nvidia will also show off the new 8900GS, which is really one core from the 8950GX2 clocked at 550Mhz and running slightly slower GDDR3 memory clocked at 1600Mhz. Expect to see a 256MB and a 512MB version of these cards priced from $200-$250 range, making it the cheapest card of the 8900 series.

I hear the 8950GX2 won't be on shelves till around April/May, which is a month or two later than the rest of the 8900 series. Is this true?
