Microsoft Sidewinder frustrates me.

edited April 2007 in Gaming
My Microsoft Sidewinder game controller is not working for me. When I got to add a new game controller and click on "Microsoft Sidewinder <auto detect>" a pop-up message appears stating that my game port and game port drivers are not configured. How do I resolve this problem?

Saw your other thread concerning drivers.
I used to use a Sidewinder until they scrapped it. I then got a Saitek p3000 wireless pad. Much better and you can easily set all the buttons.

I concur on the Saitek. It is 1000 times better than the sidewinder and it does not cost much at all..I prefer wired not wireless myself. Hate to change batteries...lol

Okay I think I'll go and buy myself one of those.

    Thanks for the help.

    Good choice.
The only 'problem' I had with mine was setting the D button for the W.A.S.D. directions (or arrow keys) a lot of games use. It is quite simple when you've done it a couple of times but the instructions I found were not so simple to understand. If you have any difficulty setting this PM me and I'll tell you how to do it. Once set you can save it as a profile, I only use one profile for 90% of games.
