Have this dial-up router at work. I connect my computer to it (not SUPPOSED to) and I can connect to internet no problem.

I use WinMX a lot, and do not like to be a leach. I have files, wanna share them.

I have DLd the manual for the router, read it front to back, back to front - made no difference which way I read it - it made no sense to me.

Please, pretend I know nothing at all about routers.... HOW to I open the port(s) that WinMx needs so I can share files??

I can DL files from WinMX users no problem - they just can't start mine.

OH - I can access the router through Telnet no problem - they used default password.

Either put the computer in the DMZ if your router has one, or set up a static route for the winmx port. Dont know what port it is tho cos I dont use winmx, try googling it.

Yoy can access these features in the routers web config pages.

Yeah if you can get a DMZ set up that'll work fine. If not, figure out the port and then figure out how to forward that port to your IP (may want to make that static). Look for things like Port Forwarding or Virtual Server. It depends on the router.
