Windows update problem?

edited August 2008 in Science & Tech
I have downloaded new updates for windows XP SP2 via windows update("Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them"). Then notification icon in task bar appears only once and then disappears, so i didnt have much time to select which update to instal. I dont wont to instal all updates only a few. After restart or waiting for notification icon to appear, it does not appear any more, but when i want to shut down computer, Turn off button has appendix now, it says "Turn off and instal all updates" and below it says "Turn off without instaling".

My question is-How to find/instal updates which i want, and if i turn off computer on "turn off" button will computer prompt me then which to instal???

Thanks

Open Internet Explorer. Go to tools | Windows Update. Choose custom. Select which updates you want to install.
