OK, I think I have found what Im looking for! Let me know if this looks like a great deal or not. And if so, does it look like I will be able to do everything I want out of it. I really like the fact that I can unlock extra cores! Thanks for all the help guys!
Gigabyte mobos are solid. I'm running the GA-EP45-UD3P with my Core 2 Quad on it and the feature set and stability are both really good. Interesting that you may be able to turn the x3 into an x4... I didn't know that was even possible with AMD CPUs. Should be a pretty good combination.
Hey, if you'd like to support Icrontic without it costing you any extra, maybe you could use our affiliate link to buy your stuff? Icrontic provides the platform for people to connect to get advice on purchases, as a value added service to vendors like Newegg
@ lordbean----Thanks for the input. I think I'm gonna purchase those tomorrow. If anyone else would like to chime in and let me know what they think, I appreciate all comments and help!
This is the power supply that I purchased. I'm pretty sure it's a good one. I had a few people in here tell me that it was fine. What do you think? Good enough for what that board and CPU?

Thanks CLiff, but do I really need it? I mean, I already spent the money on the one I have, so I didn't want to buy another. Maybe I can try this one and if it seems to not work out, I will get a bigger one.

Oh no, Sorry Bro, I should have read the whole thread. No, if you have that 500Watt supply you should be more than sufficient. I was just thinking you were still debating the options, and I figured for the same price after rebate, the other one might offer a better value, but if you purchased already, don't sweat it at all, the 500watt unit will supply all the power you will require for your build with some reasonable overhead to spare.
Oh and by the way...I DID get my refund from OCZ! It only took them about 3 1/2 months to get it to me, but I got it! lol. If anyone checks this message in the next 24 hours, tell me if this seems like just what I need. It looks like a good deal and it will have just about everything I need to finish my build. All input is welcome. Once again, remember what I'm wanting to do with the machine, and tell me if its a good fit.
Not sure yet, but I'm thinkin' about this one. I have a question though.....It has a 1.8 ghz processor, but it's a quad core, so does that mean that it's 1.8 PER core, or total?
heh, newegg doesnt work that way :P you have to setup a shared wishlist to do that. but with a quad or dual core ect, its PER core.
by refund, you talking rebate?
Thanks for the info. I was a little nervous about the ECS stuff. Just sounds cheap, ya know? I think I will just stay away from that deal and go with the gigabyte one I was looking at.
Thanks for the info about the 16 GB stuff. I guess I just want to not have to worry about things slowing down, AT ALL! All information is being computed into my skull and will be used wisely, I hope! lol.
OK..I have gotten my new case, and I must say...It is AWESOME! I love the look and all the stuff I can do with it! Now, onto the confusing part. I installed the power supply and I noticed that with all the fans, I only have 2 plugs that are the same size. Is there an adapter that I need to get to run all these fans? Are there plugs on the mother board that I can plug the fans into (I dont think there is...Im a noob, but I dont think Im that stupid)? I work with electronics, so splitting the wires into the other leads I'm comfortable with, but I would much rather use some sort of adapter. I have enclosed pictures (which I am sure you guys dont need). Please let me know.
#1 you would plug into the fan, dasie chain #2 with #1, #3 is your mobos power (ATX+4) if the optical drive you ordered is molex(#1) than you would use the other molex to plug into that, if not it'll be sata.
This seems to be the motherboard that I am leaning towards. I will probably buy it tonight, via this website of course. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks?
Also, I am pretty sure this will be the processor. If they are unsuitable for what I need, please let me know. I will be buying them around 11 or 12 tonight, eastern time (about 2.5 to 3.5 hours from now) Thanks for all the help guys!
Thanks Nate for the reply, but I am a little confused by what you said...I am not that savvy with all the terms yet (but I am trying). Maybe I didnt say it right.....
There are 4 fans in the tower, all of which have the same type of plug. I only have 2 of that type of plug coming off of my PSU (I bought the SATA type since it seems to be the wave of the future). I also have the option of plugging in another fan, which I will probably do cause it will blow directly onto my hard drives. With that being said, how do I run power to the fans now?

I used the MA770T-UD3P on a budget build. Solid good basic board, everything you need, nothing you don't.
In my mind the Phenom II tripple is a better buy than the original Phenom quad you were looking at. If you are interested in overclocking you can spend just a little bit more, get the Phenom II 720 BE with any unlocked multiplier for a simple overclock. That is what I currently use.
looks good, just make sure you pick up DDR3 ram with that.
Question for someone else. Why do most amd boards only have even amounts of ram slots? DDR3 works best in triple channel, but why are they only using dual channel on most? or only allow you to max at dual channel.

All of those fans should have a splitter built into their power leads. you plug the molex (Picture #1) into one end, then daisy chain the next fan into the end of that lead. being you probably dont have any molex devices I would plug two fans into each molex lead.
Picture #3 is the motherboards power connector, that plugs directly into the motherboard, along with the P4 connector and sometimes a molex, which on that mobo you posted last, doesnt need.
mobo = motherboard
molex is the power cable with 4 pins
p4 usually is labled, its the 2 yellow and 2 black wire power connector
the mobo is ATX which is the largest one there, which it will have a 4 port connector attached to it which older boards did not need which is why its removable
Very nice! Thanks for the explaination with all the pics! I figured about the daisy chain on the fans, but I wasnt sure about that. But I guess I do have one more question...what about the hard drive? Dont they have the same type of plug? I mean, the HD's I have now do. When I get the HD, is there a different style of power? Just wondering.
@ Cliff --- I dont really plan on overclocking, but when I read some of the customers reviews, they said that they overclocked it and was able to get an extra core ( I dont know how), so that is what sold me on that board. The price is right and it did have the ability to do it. Just letting you know. Thanks for your input though.
OK, This is what I have so far....I am ready to buy these. Does this look like it will be a good system? The price seems to be fair to me. Just making sure that it will all fit together. Will click the "payment" button once I have some posititve feedback. Thanks guys for all the help and info.

@ primesuspect
Sure, I could that!
I see no issues with either of those two,
Now have we made sure to have a decent psu to support this board?
make sure you click primes links prior to ordering. :P

$55 after rebate, 80 plus certified, indicates its a better unit. More Amps on the 12 V rails.
Thanks for the help guys! Ya'll ROCK!

there's also this combo if you don't want quad core.
i wouldn't worry about 'preparing for the future' with 16gb of ram. by the time you need it, it'll be way cheaper than you'd be paying now.
