Is AHCI just for RAID, or can it be also used for single drive systems? I would imagine that the speed increase you get really isn't noticeable, other than the reduce in wear from NCQ.
The big reason for asking this is the extra screen I get after the POST screen which is the AHCI drive detect screen before the screen that shows the resource/ports usage before windows boots. This extra screen adds pretty close to 15 seconds to the boot time of my computer.
