I just did a reformat on my Gateway M-1634u Notebook using the Operating software that was included with the notebook, but the WLan driver was not installed. I tried gateway.com for the driver, but they have the wrong one. Here is a bit more info on my computer:

Download the second item on this page. That'll get you up and running if indeed your network card is an RTL8187SE.

Cheers, and welcome to Icrontic. :)

    Go to device manager.

Right click computer | manage | device manager. Find your wireless LAN in the list. Double click on it. Click on the details tab. Select "Hardware IDs" under property.

Right click on the value and click copy (if there's more than one use the longest one). Paste the results here.

I have same problem but with Windows7 32bit. Realtek support told me to install that item but I get the 'not supported error' everytime. My Gateway laptop is a MX8734. I tried to run the setup in compatibility mode - this laptop used to run vista home. Here's my hardware id USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8187&REV_0100
