New to Java

edited February 2010 in Science & Tech
I am new at Java programming. In my 4th week of a Java2 course and have not been able to complete any of my assignments. I have tried Java tutorials and the course readings and I am stuck. Is there a manual or book like Java 4 Dummies that will walk me through completing my assignments? I have tried NetBeans, TextPad, NotePad, and JCreator Pro and they all leave me more confused. Can anyone help me?

    Short answer: no.

If you are new to programming why are you not taking an introductory course? Or does the 2 in Java2 not mean what I think it means. Either way, for a beginning programmer you're probably better off going to lecture and taking notes. Especially with beginners courses professors tend to cover everything you need to complete the work. If they aren't covering what you need, consider switching professors if possible.

I use Eclipse to program Java. It will tell you where the code is wrong(not very clear, but it tells you.) Definitely try and talk to the professor or TA's if available.
