What sort of PPD are the Nvidia GTX 470 and 480 making? The 470 has 448 processors and is selling for around $350, the 480 has 480 processors and it's going for $500.

Those extra 32 processors better do a LOT to be worth $150!

There is still no updated cored for folding that works with the 470 or 480.

The GTX 470 and 480 Folding users are starting to post results, now that the cards are supported with GPU3 "public beta" client and Nvidia 275.15 beta drivers. The 480s are producing 15 - 18K points per day, which is outstanding for a single-GPU card. The best card for outright performance in Folding@Home is still the GTX 295 with the GTX 275 Co-op approximately equal to the GTX 480. Best value - production per dollar, in my opinion, is still the venerable 9800GX2, which produce up to 12,000PPD.

Assuming that you could cool such a beast and keep it within the maximum power consumption PCI-e spec (not possible), a dual-core Fermi card would be the wonder of the Folding world. Of course, if Nvidia could actually produce the the current card with all the 512 shaders working, the 480 would take the number one position.

We'll see what happens when newer WHQL drivers are out and when the GPU3 client is finalized. Nvidia has definitely had its problems in the past 18 months with huge, hot GPU cores, but their driver software team is outstanding.
