    They're easier for people who don't want to bother installing/maintaining/patching apps. It's like the console model; insert disk, receive game.

    Ever since I became a Stream convert, I've been wishing for a "Steam for applications" to arise. Time will tell if this actually fits the bill.

    I already have Steam. I don't want another Steam. Hell, I wouldn't mind buying non-game apps in Steam.

    Yes, I suppose what I really want is for all of my software to be on Steam, but I find that unlikely, and I don't mind having one service for games, and one for everything else, as long as that's where is stops. I really don't want each software publisher to have their own client.
