    Anything from Valve
the Total War series (Empire looks Amazing)
    Company of Heroes
    Wolfenstein/Doom (the ID games basically)
    Warcraft III/Dawn of War

That's more than five, and I have more to add. I can't seem to think of an RPG I really liked... Perhaps Oblivion or Knights of the Old Republic, but it's a toss up. I can only stand wrpgs and even then not much.

I guess I will take this question as "what 5 games can you play over and over " because I love a lot of games but could never see myself wanting to play them a million times. Of course I'm talking about actually playing the game and not puttering around on it every now and then (ie fighting, racing, shooting, WoW...etc.) since I tend to do that. :grumble:

It's not that these are the BEST games i've played(some are) but ones I find myself playing often.

    metriod series
    zelda series
    final fantasy VII
    megaman series (can't get enough!)
tie between mario series and resident evil series :X

    i'm so lame....

    So many to choose from...

    1. Dragon Warrior (Original NES) / Final Fantasy (Original NES)
    2. Quake III
    3. Daggerfall (PC)
    4. Crusader: No Regret (PC)
    5. Lemmings (PC)

My god, I wasted so much time blowing up lemmings as a kid, heh.

Crusader I didn't play until later, but it's awesome just running around vaporizing people in all sorts of interesting ways.

Daggerfall: The only Elder Scrolls game where you have a pocket ship. It was the most conventient item you could have. Simply press a button, and pull your double decker ship right out of your pocket and store your loot on it. They seriously need to remake this game using 3D Graphics, mucho fun!

Quake III Arena: I still play this lots. It's never lost it's appeal and keeps on being just as much fun as when it was released...except now instead of 24 FPS, I get over 600.

Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy I lumped into one since Dragon Warrior was so short to me. I'm going to kind of ignore it and talk about FF for a sec though.

My first party was on a friend's NES cart, so I started playing FF using Fighter, Blackbelt, Redmage, Thief. Needless to stay, I still enjoy a nice difficult RPG nowadays. If only I had of known back then that a RIBBON would have saved me from all of CHAOS attacks, heh.

    1. Half Life 1 + 2 + Team Fortress 2. Raised the bar of story telling in games. TF2 is the most fun you can have in FPS online. EVER.

    2. Max Payne 1 + 2. Incredible storyline, absorbing action. Utterly addictive. Classic. Dark and compelling.

    3. Call of Duty 4. Brilliant single player. Awesome online playing.

    4. GTA 3 (4 is good but 3 is a classic). As if you need to ask why?!

    5. Syphon Filter (1, 2 and even 3). Had this on Playstation1. Great solid plot, intuitive controls. Downloaded it for PS3 last week, crap graphics now but gameplay remains spot on. Can't wait for 5 on the PS3!

and that's a hard choice when I need to add in things like...

    Silent Hill
    Resident Evil 1, 4, 5
    Railway Tycoon
    Sim City
    Populous

    ... and so on...

    1) Chrono Trigger
    2) Bioshock
    3) Earthbound
    4) Mother 3
    5) Majora's Mask

There are quite a bit more but those are the ones you get when you narrow it down to 5. I feel a little lame for giving 2 spots to the same series, but god damn they're two of the best rpg's i've ever played. I played Mother 3 before earthbound and I still loved both. It's hard for video games to really affect me on an emotional level especially at this age. That's why I picked these. Even then there are still some great ones I missed like Braid, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Super Meat Boy...

Another thing all these games have in common would be having really good music. Music makes half the game really.

    Legacy of Kain
Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
    Super Metroid
    Silent Hill 2
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Legend of Mana would be on it, but the gameplay is tedious. The music, environment, and general feel of the game are definitely top 5 material, but the incessant and uninteresting combat makes it fall short. Demon's Souls is another top contender, but I'm not sure it trumps these classics.

    1. The Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker (inb4 cel shading sucks, I thought it was a brilliant and beautiful game, and the cel shading only increased that for me)
    2. Sonic Adventure 2
    3. Pokemon Blue Version (my very first video game)
    4. Tetris (GB version. My dad is a Tetris grandmaster and after about 15 years of training I'd like to think I'm not half-bad either)
    5. The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask

Other high-ranking favs, in no particular order, include Star Fox 64, Battletanx, Sonic Adventure, Portal/Portal 2, TF2, Earthbound/Mother3, every Zelda game except for Phantom Hourglass, every Final Fantasy up through X, Mega Man 1-6, Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, Mega Man Battle Network (all), Chrono Trigger, Blender Bros. (cheap indie GBA games FTW), Crystal's Pony Tales (played this throughout my early childhood before I knew what My Little Pony was. Then I found out and I stopped playing. Now I love MLP and I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my copy of Crystal's Pony Tales).
