XBMC vs Boxee video play back

which is better?

currently I just use mpc with the k-lite codec pack, but debating setting up the soon-to-be AMD APU HTPC I'm building.

also, can you boot the PC directly into either of these programs?

    You can boot directly into Boxee, dunno about XBMC. As for decoding, they both rely on DXVA in windows, so you get more or less the quality that your GPU gives you. I personally prefer Boxee by a mile for ease of use.

    Personal preference is for XBMC for the same reason. Also XBMC tends to process a massive video library much faster than Boxee did for me.

    Either one is good though.

    XBMC on an E-350 is great. I'm using that configuration right now. 720p is no problem. I'm pretty sure 1080p .mkv works. I'll test it out when I have a chance.

    Either one can be started automatically with Windows. Just drop a shortcut into the startup folder.

    that would be great. 95% of my library is 1080p .mkv
