I'm in... to make this more accessible for more people, how about the 1st Annual Icrontic Expo 5k... it could be done in less than an hour and a half easily and many more people would find this doable as opposed to the much anticipated "Run-til-You-Drop-Athon"..

Anyone in for an Icrontic 5k?
  • _k_k P-Town, Texas Icrontian
I actually thought @Teramona had a great idea. Why not make a 5k loop and then who is up to it do a 10 mile second loop, or out and back? Have something where a lot of group can be a part and then a second part for a pack that wants to do a half can take off together.

With the half I was envisioning something close to the run we did where a 10 or 9 minute pace is set and we hold that for the whole run so we stay together and "bond". Then the last mile is a free for all :).

I'm all for whatever... 1/2 M, 5k, 10k... doesn't matter... just as long as I get out on the pavement one of the mornings... I do think that we should end with everyone at a local breakfast establishment though... gotta load back up on the carbs somehow!

    I'm in for whatever distance.

    I'm also in for breakfast.

Ugh, not being in shape.. I would enjoy this but.. well and I don't even know if I'll go..

I am most likely up for a 5k, anything more than that and I'm sure I'd die.

    I'll do either.

I have my ticket and think it is time to start really planning this run. Figure this should be a loop event, start and end at the same place.

I might, as long as no one minds when I drop out five minutes in. Heh.

Plan it so it can loop by ICHQ at 5k, 10k, and 25k. People can run in a group to whatever distance they want.

I'm with GQ. I can finish a 5k, but my definition of run differs from alot of you, I'm sure. Just as an idea, if I finish a 5k in under 45 minutes I'm happy.

I could /walk/ a 5k loop (assuming the ankle stops being a punk), but running is right out.
  • CrazyJoeCrazyJoe Winter Springs, FL Icrontian
Well my "run" isn't much more than a walk, so I don't think that'll be a problem.

This is what I am come up with so far, 3.0 miles.

Here is the link for the google maps route.

That looks good. I'm sorry if I'm missing it, but is there a date and time set for this yet?

So who's making the official Icrontic 5K T-Shirts? I mean that's why I do them, to collect the shirts, right?

If we get 20 or so people in, to justify printing at a reasonable price. I'll organize it.

I think the only open mornings are Thursday and Saturday: @primesuspect. I would prefer to do it Saturday morning because that would give the best chance for total participation, but if it gets knocked to Thursday eh. Because this is my United States of whatever!

The early projection for temperatures is a low around 62F and high of 80F. Sunrise is Jun 21, 2012 5:55 AM and June 23, 2012 5:56 AM; should be fine with light and everyone being able to see everything.

Also, my vote is for a 9 AM start time to give people the chance to not get up to horribly early.

I had a dream about this last night. If this ends up being anything like that in real life, we're in for an experience.

The tour will start at Wheelhouse Bike Rental on the Detroit Riverwalk on the morning of Friday, June 22nd at 9:30am, and will last until approximately 12:30pm.

Saturday is completely open until 10AM. If you want to start this event at 9AM, you can easily get in a 5K prior to the next scheduled event.

Shall I add it to the calendar from 9-10AM on Saturday the 23rd?
  • _k_k P-Town, Texas Icrontian
Put it down. We will have a little bit of a spill over on time if some of us do a run till you drop but that is going to be a personal choice and not a "real" event.

If your dreams are anything like my dreams, if it ends up being anything like it I'd strongly consider avoiding Michigan...
