Good to know Wide Open West set a trend.

WoW did that 2 months ago. Good to see it's catching on.

as the battle between DSL and Cable is heating up.. with cable, bandwidth is on the rise but is higher priced, where as DSL the bandwidth is the same but the price is dropping..

For my 1.4 mbit dsl service im paying 28.99 a month as a package deal with verizon and the modem was free.

    We are all winning...

Yeah Maryland too. 3.2 last time I benchmarked. At this point I'm more interested in upload capacity.

Wow.. I remember hitting ~5.5 Mbit back in the day. Now the usage in my area has jumped so much, it's capped @ 3.5 MBit for now.

Because they can charge that much, and people will pay. Anything to beat dial-up.

What about the 100/100mbit or 10/10mbit in Sweden that I hear about? Is that true?

I read an article about that, Thrax. Unfortunately, I can't remember where, but I must say massive broadband bandwidth plus massive breasted blondes = Sweden?

It may be time for me to relocate to southern Scandanavia!

I'm getting 1.3Mbps/256kbps DSL for $26.95/month. Not bad at all. I could get Comcast cable, which is 3.0Mbps/256kbps. I can live with the slower download and since the upload is the same, it's no contest on the lower price of the DSL.

Try FTPing from SUNET. They are in Sweden, one of the university's sponsors that miniclustered site, and they have about 4 Terrabits/sec of FTP pipe-- for public use in public FTP server cluster downloading, not to mention the Terras reserved for the University folk including students. I get 300+ KB/sec and they run to 400 simultaneous connects at mroe than that rate before pipes starts to saturate.

One thing about big bosoms, Sweden has some of the foremost plastic surgeons in the world working there and making a profit.

I'm getting like 4.5 in the ATL and file sharing is a breeze. I actually got a letter stating that I had exceeded my maximum bandwidth by like 100 times and that I needed to change my surfing habits... I upgraded to Comcast Pro ($95/mo.) and I was told I have no bandwidth restrictions... Does that sound right? It seems kinda dumb to use the term bandwidth to describe two different things. Kinda confusing...
