Personally I'd like to see Ewan McGregor or Sean Connery

    I still think that Hurt is not necessarily the 12th Doctor, remember we've had false doctors and/or somewhere in the timeline but not explained Doctors before.

    Hoping for Helen Mirren or more realistically, Idris Elba, but they're probably both too high profile. Rumors are saying Peter Capaldi, but I'm hoping it won't be another white dude.

    Tennant is my favorite doctor in the new series so far... I don't share the hate-on for Matt Smith though. I thought he was a pretty good doctor.

    I never really liked Matt Smith, at least not compared to Tennant he definitely grew on me but the 'insane doctor' schtick always irked me.

    Also we've got another Scot this is going to be brilliant.

    If they wanted to continue with the limited number, The Master was provided with a new set of regenerations, and River gave The Doctor hers - she had used at least her first regeneration, so there could be as many as eleven more there.

    I don't think they really have to. The Doctor's reincarnation is just into a random body, not taking the place of a specific person, so it could be completely coincidence that he reincarnates into a body that looks exactly like someone he had met in his past travels.

    Well they did say that Pompeii is where The Doctor died but it doesn't necessarily mean Matt Smith.

    Any number of future Doctors could potentially be the one who died there.

    No, I liked him a lot, but I definitely preferred Tennant and Eccleston.
