Help - ext HDD not recognised

RiddickRiddick Malaysia Icrontian

Apologies if this isn't in the right place
An external 1tb usb HDD NTFS partitioned refused to be recognised by a Sony television it has never had issues with before
It was just plugged in to a Windows 10 desktop to copy a movie in without issues
I plug it in to an older Win7 laptop and get the error message :
Error recovering disk g: A recovery key was not found on this drive. the drive cannot be unlocked.
N.b. have not applied encryption of any sort to drive

Plug in to another Win10 laptop (that its only recently been plugged in to since this has occured) no dramas

Presumably the reason win7 and the telly are not recognising the device is because of some mysterious encryption being applied , any help other than reformatting and starting again?

You may want to check if Win 10 applied bitlocker or some other encryption method - plug it back into that and go through the drive properties and see if you see anything like that.

None of this is seen; the OS drive for the laptop has a "lock icon" but nothing on the external drive - i guess will end up formatting drive and see
