Every fandom gets a documentary, movie, book, or some other form of recognition. This is just another in a long line (Though considering that this is merely 2 years after the shows creation it's occurring at a far faster pace than other fandoms which is cool too.)

For those that don't know the connection, John de Lancie (Q on ST:TNG) is the voice of the character Discord on MLP:FIM. Discord is actually based off of the Q character and has been described as a "monster version of Q" by one of the writers of FIM.
