Wow. I mean, I've been on web-autopilot before, but that's ridiculous. I'm actually looking for a word stronger than ridiculous, but the first Google result wasn't much help in the 0.6 seconds I spent looking at it.

I see it all the time at work. They'll type google.com into the address bar in order to go to msn.com. W... T... F?

I see students do it frequently. It's really more a statement to the saturation of Google, not of Facebook.

To many people Google is the internet.

It's a good thing I never had faith in humanity to begin with.

Just like AOL, circa 1995. I have an uncle who still thinks the Internet is next to useless without the guiding hand of AOL! (yes, he is elderly)

    I... I don't... I can't... sweet Jesus.

I guess this is what happens when you release it from being for college students only and start putting applications and web games inside it.

I'd probably find that thread funnier if I didn't have to deal with that level of retardedness at work every day. When you tell someone to go do "domain.com" they immediately assume you mean "Type it into Google and click the first sponsored link" ARGH.

This is exactly what my students do. Unlike chrisWhite (hopefully), they don't even look at the results before clicking. I want to know who is teaching people to do this. Is this something they learn in highschool now?

And now I know how Google makes so much money.
  • KoreishKoreish Member, Writer, Expo Attendee
Doesn't Google make like .10USD everytime someone clicks a link? Or has it gone up?

My Googlefoo is pretty good, I didn't use to do that very often but with the unified search and URL bar in Chrome I just find myself typing in the name and hitting enter.

I can't think of the last time I clicked on a sponsored link though.

Hey... don't diss the sponsored links, they're helpful sometimes! Really though, this would make my brain hurt if it weren't for the fact that I've seen worse.

My mom almost paid for Firefox one time because of this.
