Greetings, ya'll

My oldest son, Nick Mertes, is one of your reviewers and has been telling me I should check the site out. I work for the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture and part of my job is to be backup IT support when our IT wizzard is not available. Before we moved to Oklahoma, I managed a computer store in Monterey, CA for 6½ years and taught workshops for the Monterey Bay User Group on maintenance & upgrading your own system 5 years. My computer experience goes back to 1980 when we moved to Hawaii with the Air Force. I walked in the office and was greeted with "Hi, you're our new computer expert!". My response was "What's a computer?". Most of my learning has been through the school of hard knocks and being fortunate enough to have good techs working for me at the store in Monterey. While I'm not actively involved in building & selling systems any more, I like to keep up with what's going on in the IT world.
