Dan and I are heading out to the UK next year around May October, and we were thinking that it would be a lot of fun to have some friends along with us. We're going to hit England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. And you should come. All of you. We will have proper tea, and head to proper pubs, and probably do a lot of very British things. It's going to be quite fun. Quite, indeed.

So, I'll just leave this here to see if there's any interest.

  • I would totally want to get involved in Icrontic-y things if you come near the Wolverhampton/Birmingham area on your trip :D

    Where in Scotland/Ireland?
  • Man do I ever wish I made the kind of money to be able to do this. I've always wanted to go to Ireland.

@Cathartis and @Basil, We're not quite sure of the itinerary as far as the exact areas we're going to visit. I think it'd be fun if we could meet up with the IC Euro crew!

@ardichoke, We're thinking the more people who come the cheaper it'll be. At least for hotel rates.

Well, you get to N. Ireland and I'll take a day off work to run you round the Giants Causeway and Bushmill's distillery.

If this was in the summer and I had the money I'd also be in. I would definitely love to take a trip to the UK at some point in my life.

Not entirely certain on the time frame either, but it's going to be about a year from now. We'll try to plan around other peoples' schedules, too, if there is interest. The only downside is that Dan and I had to sit down and really plan the year out, trip wise. We're cutting out ICNY and Expo for this.

I got to go on a tour of the Isles for about 2 ½ weeks 3 years ago. Great memories, I highly recommend it.
I love nature and the color green so Ireland and Scotland were particularly enjoyable to me, and I'd love to visit them again even without Icrontic. That being said I would need much more then a year to save up the funds for it. :(

I'd love to, but if I'm fortunate enough to get a job, then I'll have limited vacation time.

I'm just subscribing to thread in case I end up being able to go. I've been to Scotland and England before, but with the exception of London, they were really quick trips and I didn't get to see much. I'd love to see Ireland or spend more time in Edinburgh. Or go see Snarks, natch.

If it works in mine and the wife's time and money, we'd be down for stopping by for 2-3 days before we head on to Slovenia to visit her parents (and hit other countries along the way, as usual).

It was actually a reeeeally hard decision. Personally, I'd love to make at least one of those trips work, but Dan informs me that I actually know very little about money and what I can do with it.

...I'm still buying my expo ticket regardless. :hiding:

More expensive than connecting to Chicago? Because we're going to have to do it anyway. Planes don't leave from LA to the UK... or so I'm told.

Dunno about prices relative to Chicago, but you can totally fly direct LAX - LHR with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, United, etc.
