Despite the appearance at [i]CeBIT[/i] of motherboards supporting the [i]LGA775[/i] socket T [i]Pentium 4[/i] processors, sources at Taiwan’s PC makers are claiming that the new 90nm chips will be generally available in June, rather than as originally scheduled in May.
[blockquote]The delay will give Intel more time to migrate its 0.13-micron process technology to 90nm and enable the launch to coincide with the chipmaker’s plans to employ a new numbering scheme for its processors beginning at the end of the second quarter, said the sources.[/blockquote]

[b]AMD[/b] have finally added its [i]Athlon 64 2800+[/i] processor into its official price list, reflecting its availability for at least some customers. The new chip is not designated to demonstrate unbelievably high performance, but is supposed to enable very affordable personal computers with AMD64 technology.
[blockquote]64-bit microprocessors priced in $200 and below range have all chances to become popular among end-users who are looking for some new and exciting hardware, but cannot easily afford a $400 or $700 CPUs, such as the Athlon 64 3400+ or Athlon 64 FX-53. System integrators should also be happy with the new flavour of AMD64, as their customers may bite those more reasonably priced 64-bit systems.[/blockquote]

Next year may be a big one for regulation of VOIP (voice over Internet Protocol) in the U.S according to some speakers at the [i]Voice on the Net[/i] (VON) conference in Santa Clara, California this week.
[blockquote]At issue is how governments should treat VOIP, which is a data packet technology but to the customer looks like a voice product and thus a possible replacement for traditional circuit-switched phone service. Phone service is subject to a number of federal and state regulations and taxes that may or may not be appropriate for offerings based on the new technology. Among the issues are access charges paid to carriers for using their infrastructure, fees to support universal access to phone service, emergency 911 service, access for the disabled, and support for law enforcement wiretaps.

Research appears to back up what teenagers have been saying for years, file sharing is not stuffing the music industry.
[blockquote]A study conducted jointly by researchers from Harvard Business School and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, has found that in 2002 music sales were unaffected by the increase in file sharing, and the industry may have even benefited from it.

In an interview with "Computerworld," [b]Microsoft[/b] Senior Vice President Bob Muglia revealed that the next major version of [i]Windows[/i] (code-named Longhorn) won't ship until 2006 at the earliest, confirming the opinions of analysts and others familiar with the company's problem of shipping products on schedule.

A draft bill recently circulated among members of the House judiciary committee would make it much easier for the [i]Justice Department[/i] to pursue criminal prosecutions against file sharers by lowering the burden of proof.

It is unlikely that [b]Apple[/b] will win a logo registration dispute with China's [i]Trademark Appraisal Committee[/i] (TAC) because the [b]Apple[/b] logo under discussion does not have a bite taken out of it, according to experts.
