AC97 Audio for VIA

Working on a PC w. integrated sound, the AC97 drivers from the motherboard manuf. (Biostar M7VIG (I think)), result in choppy audio. Where's a good place to get reliable, up to date AC97 drivers for Win98? I've looked at Via and Biostar's site, all result in the same choppy performance playing WAV and streaming content. I'm not looking for premium performance, but adequate would be nice.
