The new beta version of Windows Defender, formally known as Microsoft Antispyware, will add support for Outlook, a new interface, and automated updates to the spyware definitions and scanning engine. Where Beta 1 has been available only for Windows XP, Beta 2 will run on other Windows versions. Beta 2 should appear within the next two months.
The long Beta 1 run of AntiSpyware, said another Microsoft developer, was necessary because of the company's plans for the GIANT technology within Vista. "The priority for development has been integration with Vista," said Jeff Williams. "Because Beta 1 was essentially a rebranding of GIANT's very successful and useful product development, focus has been on inclusion with Vista and on the upcoming Beta 2 of Windows Defender."

Microsoft's Anti-Spyware program is surprisingly effective. We've been using it to great success here at Best Buy.
