SATA drive 0 not found

Hey guys,

One of my friends is having some problems with his computer. I'm not sure of the exact model, but I do know its a dell xps. Anyway, when it boots, it says "SATA drive 0 could not be found." I told him to open the case up and try to reconnect any cables that may have come loose, but that didn't solve the problem. I told him to try and enter the bios for setup, but it doesn't even allow him to enter it. As soon as he tries to enter the setup, that drive error comes up again. The computer is less than 1 1/2 years, so I doubt the HD has died this early, but you never know.

Any thoughts?

He's not entering the bios correctly. You get into the bios before it probes the drives.

I told him to keep on tapping F2 as soon as he presses the power button. He said it reads "Entering setup" but then that same error appears.

I'll just tell him to call dell and see about the warranty. I'm at school taking classes this summer so I can't go to his place anytime soon. Thanks
