Today saw the launch of an entirely new line of workstation graphics cards from AMD/ATI starting with the FirePro V3700 and V5700. The FirePro line looks to compete in the entry and mid-range professional markets and fill the gap below the $999 V7600. The V3700 has 256MB of video memory on a 64-bit bus, is based on the R620 core, and launches at a mere $99 which makes it the cheapest professional 3D solution available. The V5700 comes out of the gate priced at $599 and is based on the new RV730 core featuring 512MB of memory on a 128-bit bus.

ATI has worked hard in the past to get it's foot in the door with 3D professionals and has managed to make a name for itself in a market that has long been dominated by Nvidia. Perhaps today's launch will help to solidify that standing.
