Laptop Parts

I have taken my old IBM Thinkpad A31 apart and ended up with two parts I am not quite sure what they are. Can anybody enlighten me?

This is mostly an educational exercise, but if anybody thinks the parts are worth more than a cup of coffee, I might put them on fleabay.
