If your a fanboy of DivxNetwork then use DivX5.02 Pro and be happy.
Dont forget XviD.... though I still dont get better quality with it, as a matter of fact Nandub and Fairuse and DivX5 do alot better. For guides on encoding with DivX5.02 Pro or XviD:

How to frameserve:

With a frameserver you can do first editing in either Virtualdub or Adobe Premiere and then frameserve the video directly to any encoder without creating a temporily avi file.

Create a DVD2AVI project:

In this step we're going to create a DVD2AVI project file. This project file can be later converted to a pseudo-AVI file for frameserving purposes. Please do not forget to write down the values mentioned in the guide.
SPECIAL NOTE This guides shows you how to do this when ripping a DVD.... you can also open any Mpeg2 file in DVD2AVI and save a project file with it. So dont think it just opens VOBs cause it can do alot more
