Lack of Mobs

There are almost no mobs spawning for me right now, like no cows, sheeps, pigs, anything. I saw a couple of zombies but that's it. It's only on the server, they spawn just fine in single player. What do?

Actually, I think Notch played a prank by hard coding a complete lack of mob spawning every April 1st.
